Howdy!

This is a little camera mod that consists of only one file cameras.dat which you paste in data/library with jsgme or by hand(?).
It is for use with some mods like longer repair times, olc gui special(but I didn't try olc gold yet!!) etc. or without them on supermod GWX 3.0.

What it does:
1. free move camera on bridge
2. fix for night sky view(it was strecthed before, that is mainly for "if ever real nav comes with olc ubermod which would be uber realismus"
3. rocking of the boat in all cameras, that means you listen to music lying in kaleuns bed while suffering from sea disease or something like that.. Also the views of your officers, free camera(shift plus f2) etc.

This is second release, for gwx 3.0.

7.1 - some small adjustments and silly stuff

Things to improve:
1. There is no depth charge effect in those other cameras, maybe in other release.. Have to check it out.. Try it..
2. When you first try camera, camera rocks like hell
3. On flank speed it looks like you are riding in tractor but that's maybe because I play with correct interior diving angles together with lrt.. But boat shakes like a tractor too.. Sometimes.. And all the values are from lrt, but since I never played without this I don't know if lrt on itself rocks like that.. :doh: Try it..

Also, I added nonubermodlittlecameramod for those of you not using olc gui special(but it is for now untested, so try it!)..

I really miss the swaying motion while relaxing on the Bunk!:rock:
Oh, and I do like the Tractor thing that comes with the DC-Shake Mod!
When heavy sea and speed, the Cam will behave accordingly. This is why I love this mod!

Please do consider adding the Depth charge shake, cuz that would make this Cam mod complete! :rock:

When the upcoming release of SH4 was announced, people said SH3 was dead.

When the SH4 modding section got started at Subsim, people said SH3 was dead.

When the U-Boat Missions Expansion for SH4 was released, people said SH3 was dead.

When the Grey Wolves announced GWX 2 was the final release for SH3, people said SH3 was dead.

When the Grey Wolves announced work on GWX 4 for SH4 had begun, people said SH3 was dead.

Notice a pattern? :roll:

For a game that has been pronounced "dead" for two years it sure seems to still be going strong and it will continue to do so for as long as there are modders out there who continue to improve this game. The full potential of what can be done has barely been tapped, especially with tools like S3D out there now.

Every modder who ever said SH3 is dead or that everything has been done for mods that can be done either lacks interest or imagination enough to continue working on the best sub sim ever made.

There is a working camera mod (SB_cameras_mod_SH3) for stock SH3 and compatible with GWX 2.1. Used to have it always enabled. However haven't tried it with OLCE2.

This is actually very nice. Good to have the Sergbuto CamMod, Shakes, merged with OLCE and Gui.. I didnt see any anomalies in my short test, running on the surface at bad weather, being chased by planes. Flank speed didnt give me the Tractor effect, the boat was rocking to sides pretty good. The atmosphere inside the boat feels very real.
I have to try the DC effect tonite.

Not using the LRT mod at the moment, it wouldnt matter right? (Thinking of installing it soon anyway)

The Periscope is bugged for non OLC-GUI users.
But the rest of this works great. Cool shake and cool and smooth moving around!:up:

Well I should get myself in trouble and get a beating from the Destroyers, then perhaps install lrt and see if the tractor effect is caused by it.

Havent checked the Periscope, although I DO use OLC Special, debating about switching to the old version or home brewed jag-d tools, Its very hard (for me) to estimate range with the new OLC..

i want to use this combined camera.dat, so I'll report back any side effects and suggestions :up:

Added non ubermod camera.dat in nonubermodlittlecameramod.rar on filefront.. BUT IT IS UNTESTED!!
For those of you not using olc gui special or any olc gui.. Like mexhale..

There is also olc classic gui and maybe I'll make it and add it too.. But..
But it's pretty easy to made it based on my cameras.dat..
You open the file with s3d, search for uzo, periscope, obsperiscope, deckgun etc.. Open camera dat from olc's mod.. Check camera params and optical for each camera in each file, compare and copy/paste values from olc's cameras.dat to mine. Then test, if it doesn't work check some more.. In 5 minnutes you have it.. It is no magic.. The magic would be to go hex("voodoo" ;))..
By comparing the data you can make your own cameras mod with s3d..
Believe me, s3d is the best and the most easy to use mod make tool in the game world.. Skwasjer is really a master ;)
And anybody seen or heard privateer?

Rocking of the boot is similar in movie. One more thing- there is a sergbuto camera mod, but.. I haven't got it because his page is screwed, someone sent me the files though but I lost them.. So this cameras.dat was made "on my own"..

I've tried using OLC GUI and U-Jagd but I'm too used to the normal interface of SH3 and feel most comfortable making my torpedo attacks with it.

I tried the mod yesterday, and overall I like it a lot! Some comments:

Good: I like that it doesn't change anything from GWX - the binoculars still don't have the bearing marks, which the old mod replaced. I like that I can still see through the crew when using the binoculars, as having to move to see around them is more realistic but also a real pain. I also like that if I 'walk' down to the deck gun or anywhere else, then go to another view, if I click back to the bridge view I'm actually back on the bridge. The old mod returned me to wherever I was when I clicked out. Overall it works very well.

Bad: When not using the binoculars, if I spin around it moves sideways with an odd motion, almost like I'm dancing. When on the bow I spun around to look at something and ended up standing several feet off the side of the boat!

Is that a problem, or just something I did wrong?

Yes, I meant Sergbuto's mod, but I drew a blank on his name.:damn: As I said, some of the extra things he made didn't appeal to me (no offence meant to Serg, as he's done some great stuff), and I'm glad yours was simpler.

We've had 'No Smoking' laws here for a very long time. People go outside to smoke, and we seem to have survived it so far.

I might have found a little problem with this camera.dat
The Uzo viewport is different then the one in Gwx 2.1.
I kept missing my shots by 4-5 degrees thats why I compared the files. I'm not sure how this slipped through asanovic tho, perhaps I have an old release?..
Yup, and the WO on the bridge makes the camera spin out of control.:hmm:

About the spinning of the wo.. Some code I took off sboot mod(that's why I wrote thanks mikhayl).. That spinning with the wo is present there also.. I thought that is "usual" :rotfl:

Ok, back to the camera topic..

pirireis, the file you downloaded is for olc gui special, the viewport is different for cameras than in gwx 2.1.. I am using the values from olc gui so if you are using olc gui and still see it is off chart, ask olc about it because rocking of the cameras don't have nothing to do with camera parametars(position of the view relevant to menu ini file, "crosshair on 0" which I correctly input from olc's version as you can check it in s3d yourself). Though I see 80 yellow mark times 29= around 2320, my special man tells me it's 2100(-reality) ;) +- who can tell in the rough sea, a meter or two..

sailor steve, that odd motion might have been an earthquake, because I haven't seen it yet?? :D Don't know..

NEW UPDATE this weekend or next week..

Watch officer spin and versions for regular gwx, gwx with mild dc shake, olcgui12xlrt + mild shake, olcguiubermodlrt + mild shake, lrt + mild shake.. All in one pack, version 7.01..

That's because some guy asked, gozo, for milder dc shakes and I am curios too what will happen ;) so what the heck.. Tractor movement bothers me ;)
MOst of the files I will not test myself(olcgu12x certain!, don't have it, have lrt compability patch, on that I will work, don't know if that is the same to olc special), so you will have to test it yourself..

You're right, sorry for that confusion. :oops: I'm not using OLCGui, just the OLCE2 environment for now, trying out the hsgui (another combimod) for a while. Thats why my aiming was off. Changed the viewports back to gwx values, now all is ok.

Upcoming update sounds nice :up:

WoW. Maybe it even removes the annoying DC shaking in the LRT-SRM that you cant get rid of if running OLC uber+ spec GUI.:rock:

OK! Yes they are incompatible(some other files are incompatible more or less), as mikhayl said he will "update all files when gwx 3.0 comes out. They will probably not change this file, so I am making this.. if mikhayl wants to use this file, I would be happy.. I sort of have some questions for mikhayl regardin srm..

Well, I made the files but there are some issues that I have to discuss, here:
First of all:
Odd movement sailor steve experienced:
I managed to produce it, but only when I run gwx without olce.. That means, when I run the non ubermod version of the camera without lrt. You can kick and beat me witha stick, I really don't know why that happens. I will check all numbers and stuff, maybe I missed something, maybe sailor steve used non ubermod version without lrt , like I did(didn't try with original gwx values although I made it) although that is for lrt and that is causing that "spin around the boat into the sea" feature.. Yes, I ended in the sea.. :rotfl:
Second:
Watch officer.. Without free move when you click on him, he turns to you and talks to you in gay manner.. Well, it looks like in free move you cannot click s..t and that's why you get "spin around and up" when you click on watch officer.. It's a gay thing..
Ading a new camera for watch officer is an option, but I don't want to get into it. When I tried to add sound for snorkel I got burned with failure so adding new stuff I don't want..
BTW: If anyone is using rbseffects mod(it's fps faster than EDE and adds supermans, looks better :rotfl:) and wants sounds when bullets hit the water add on for that mod I will post it there on that page.. I am also waiting gwx 3.0 to do some work on that mod, and to release that addon but if you like.. The sounds are from poul, he works in music studio, man knows his job, try his sound mod.. I have some ideas.. If anyone else has ideas please contact me..

You're right, I don't use OLCE because my computer barely runs with it enabled, and I like LRT but don't like what it does to GWX, so I don't use it either.

On the other hand I re-downloaded and re-tried the mod yesterday, and now I don't get the funny movement, so I'm not complaining. Go figure.:sunny:

I found out that I cannot much improve the first version other than throwing myself head over "heals" in it and that is what stops my further advancement. :88)

read your early posts and couldn't help agreeing in my anglo-saxon way :-) we in the UK are far more controlled and surveilled than people EVER were in the former Soviet-Bloc, don't do this, do that etc; and guys believe me I do know, my wife is from Poland, born 1970 and she grew up under the communist system! So I am not just another lefty-brit spouting off! It sometimes seems that we are sacrificing freedoms because we are told it is in our interests, and blindly allow our politicians and civil servants to erode personal freedoms for 'national security' or 'your safety'and if that is not DDR-speak (sorry to any former Stasi officers playing SH3, it is not intended as an insult to your profession) for controlling us, what is? It is that our leaders exploit fears and worries about security, global warming, health etc; when what it seems to be about is MONEY! We are no longer citizens, but 'revenue-generation opportunities' , whether thru tax or fines!

Don't pay too much attention to my rantings Kaleuns, I am just pissed at the £60 it cost me for doing 35 mph on a deserted road with a dodgy 50 to 30 restriction at 2am...... Isn't it odd how the camera is ALWAYS on the downhill run, not the uphill..... SMILE! You've just been stasi'ed ;-)

Kentrat, about the soviet union. We were part of yugoslavia. But communist system similar to soviet union. Although lighter type, similar jam. :doh: I could dissagree with the statement "than people EVER were".. We could debate on it. For instance, I am now free to sing croatian songs, to speak my mind and numerous other stuff. But some things are far worse.. And then I would have to agree with you on it when it comes to "don't do this, that etc.".. The truth is probably in the middle. :rotfl:
If you have a communist system then all the people are automatically surveilled by each other and the system. In "democracy" you can't have people running around and doing mischief. So you surveill them with agencies.. In fact, all those don't do laws are just a measure of controlling the rebelious. :rotfl: If it makes money, great.. Why ""? WHat is democracy? Probably B'stard would be only one good enuf to explain.. :rotfl:

The difference between the files are in two little things.. Regarding that I did some things also, but it is up to you to test it..

There is no way you can get ctd with this mod.. You can get wrong motion, wrong position of camera, "click on watch officer fly away" behaviour, but ctds you cannot..

Or I am crazy..

I, on the other hand, use it with GWX 3.0 every day, and have yet to have a single CTD. And I'm using over a dozen other independent mods at the same time, all with no problems.:sunny:

How can I do it when I open the file with hex editor, understand pretty much what is what, and then get bemused at how is the number I see with s3d can be that in hex, when I do the math and all?

How about you offer us little robin hoods, a crash course test on some file, rb? :) Like what is what? I learned the files with s3d solely on my test and burn method, but hex is a little bit too complicated for me. Before s3d couldn't open your "secondary explosion caller" part of the fires parts in particles.dat(I can't remember the right name now), I opened with hex, found all, found the time thing, but got :doh:

As i understand you are using the wrong file. Try the one called lrtolcspecial instead.
Ahh and you may have to use lrt also. Sorry for that. But it works.

I'm now running LRT, GWX 3.0, and OLC gold. Still not working with any of the versions of little cam. Any other ideas, Mod order perhaps?

The order should be GWX, OLCgold, "LongerRepairTimesforOLCGold" and "LCM701lrtolcspecial".
"LongerRepairTimesforOLCGold" is just released by OLC after my first post. You can find the thread as "LRT for OLC GOLD".

GWX, OLCgold, LRT2.04, "OLC GUI Special - LRT 2.04 patch", "LCM701lrtolcspecial" order works but you will get few unnoticable bugs.

I don't know. It works with me so why not with you? Maybe someone more experienced may help you. I am giving you my full mod list. That's the best i can do. I have others mods too but these are the important ones.

this pic was taken with lcm.. I don't need external cam(when I turn it on, it is too itchy not to use it dirty), and this works only when surfin..

I just downloaded lrt for olc gold.. So, I will seek for that of what you speak :)
But, if they are unnoticable? Can you tell what they are anyway? :doh:

Maybe old way with LRT2.04 himself is better. "few unnoticible bugs" is about uzo and binocular flaggen option. They don't work. Maybe there are more bugs i don't know. OLC would have a better idea. Yes olc seems to have disabled depthcharge shake and something else i don't remember for compatibility reasons with his LRTforOLC addon but flaggen options work now.
Enhancedoilexplosions is nice to have. Fires rise through the smoke.
