this mod uses files derived from RFB + RSRDC! i'm not sure if it will work with other campaigns, but i'm sure it wont do much harm.

well, folks, here it is,
both a Project 641 AND 627A available for the american campaign,
heres the readme


Foxtrot and November mod

This mod makes both the Project 641 (Foxtrot) and Project 627A (November)
submarines playable in the american campaign,
the patrol objectives are copied from the Gato patrols, because they're more exiting :P


one common issue is that there is no crew at the start of a campaign, so heres what I do.
1. go to subsystems, and load up all the crew there until its empty.
2. save game.
3. load game, and continue with step 1.
4. repeat!


this process takes 15 mins to a half an hour, at least for me and my medium-high spec computer.
just tough it out, you only have to do it once!


*special notes for the November!!!!*
there is no stern torpedo! so dont put men in it, they're useless anyhow.


other issues...
missing CT for some players...i have no idea why this is happening, im looking into it.
misaligned torpedo tubes on the November...i dont have S3D, because my computers weird.
(its okay though, the fun is in the sub itself.)


JSGME thingies!
REMOVE any soundmods that have a sh.sdl file in them, the november comes with its own to
accmomdate the nuke sub sound.
just drop the Foxtrot+November folder into your MODS folder.
then reload the soundmod. select yes for the overwrites...because I said so..

this also modifies the equipment.upc files to be compatible with the foxtrot, and upgradepacks.upc.

there are a couple of pictures in the file, for background purposes :D

Is it possible to use these subs for the German side in the U-boat missions? I bit more appropriate there... :arrgh!:

Hi,

nice Subs. But I have a Problem withe the November, the tower ist Missing.

This is how it looks in the S3Edit, and it looks similar in the game.

amarth, sorry for the delayed response.
in the readme, and the thread it is built for RFB+RSRDC, which i highly suggest to download.
but the only fix i can think of is the object number in the data/objects folder

okay, time to think...if there are 7 boats in stock, the tower for the november is...i think number 11. change that to number 08 or 09, if that doent fix it, i will work on a fix for those not using RFB+RSRDC

Awesome. Just plain awesome.

Somebody who knows Russian *I think* go get Dagon to make us a Typhoon and lets have Sledgehammer make it work in the campaign!

But I also agree with the suggestion about putting it on the German side. When using Soviet subs, we wanna be sending Americans and British people to the bottom. I wonder if anyone could make more era appropriate ships...its times like this I feel bad for not being a modder.

@ Mobius, it is just a quick fix, i prefer to be on the winning side :p

i think dagon just popped up here to release his foxtrot. i dunno if he still shows up around here, i hope he does.

i have a 688I to release, which i hope to modify into a regular 688, which i figure would be a little more appropriate to release into the campaign.

insofar, it will be the I version.
but, if some skilled modder with a little bit of free time and s3d wants, it shouldnt be hard to move those planes on the tower, i will include modified bow planes to match the proper planes, for those interested in completing the work. as long as they include my name in the readme.:cool:

and then...i will add the proper 688 names into the roster file!

The reason these subs start without crews is because the data files look up non-existant crew members. A while back I fixed the bug with a Type-XXI I put together, but I can't remember off the top of my had which files had to be tweaked.

if you have RSRDC installed they should be ready to play in the campaign mode from the asiatic fleet.

I have been playing SHIV since December 2009 and I am a total rookie. I just started playing with Manual Targeting and have about a 15% hit ratio, so I am still learning.
I have not tried RSRDC as yet. I don't even know what it is?

I am running Stock 1.5 with Webster's GFO and a few other fixes. Would RSRDC be compatible with that config?

well, RSRDC is a total rewrite of SHIV's campaign layers.
it makes the patrol orders more realistic, as well as the battles (you won't find a task force with 4 yamato's in it, but it's in the name of history)

you will notice that I put that I used RFB+RSRDC compatible files, but I found out that the files I edited were RSRDC alone and I just used RFB as a test bed.

but one of the stickys at the top of this forum (with the bolted-in symbol) you will see a thread called "popular mods and technical help"
in there, you will find RSRDC
(Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign)

you should also be able to find a manual targeting tutorial in that thread if you wish to improve your skills. I just went to sub school and did the torpedo practice mission over and over again until I got it right. Just don't give up!:up:

Anyway you can Mod in the Mk-48 (or maybe change the name to the appropriate Soviet homing torpedo) ADCAPs into this Mod? Hard using WW2 weaponry on early Cold-War Nucs:damn:

Hi, Im having the same problem as the one described below where the type 627A conning tower is not shown. Ive read this but it hasnt helped. Ive encountered two problems. The first is that when I open the Dat/Objects folder there are four files each for the two subs. Which of the four conning tower files do I open to adjust the 627A conning tower so it has one!? Also I dont have office on this PC so I need a programme that will open whichever file Im supposed to adjust and be able to edit it.

Many thanks in advance for advice. I love the 641 what a great model, thanks for putting it on here!

Question for you Sledge, bit off topic so sorry about that.

How are you handling combat in the Cold war mod? Just pretend it escalated and have firing like in normal SH or are you going to give out specific targets and such?

@Torpex, There is a numerical conflict in your

Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData file.

Go to that file in your Foxtrot+November mod folder, you should see a file named Unitparts11627A.upc or something close to that.
change it to
Unitparts31627A.upc. We figured out a while back that there will be disappearing towers if the unitparts conflict.
I can't remember EXACTLY how to fix it but I remember it was simply renumbering the file.


@Mescator, Lordy it's been so long since I worked on anything involving the Cold War Mod. I believe we all just kinda gave up because what we wanted the Cold War Mod to be was so far beyond the game's engine, we figured that everyone was having enough fun using modern subs to blow up japanese shipping we left it at that.

Cheers buddy Ill try that fix. Ive just loaded the Russian boats 636 658 667 etc ect...all have no cons except one!!! Is there another list of downloadable US / British boats??

I've been trying to complete it but I can not get the Uzo or Periscopes working. In the Conning Tower View the periscopes keep going up-down like animations are in a loop.

I had that on one of my downloaded Russian subs. The problem occured when the conning tower failed to be displayed. Perhaps Sledge's cure below?

Ive just renamed all my UPC data files in consecutive numbers for the all my subs starting 11 then 21 31 41 etc. This gave me all the conning towers back.

yup, I just want you to do one thing for me. before you start the game. drop it into your MODS folder (it's jsgme ready)
then go to
data/upcdata/upcunitsdata

in the foxtrot and november mod folder,

there should be a couple files called unitpartsNNnnn.upc

the NN should be a two digit number, probably 10 and 11.
and nnn should be 602 and the other should be like 598 or something.
the NN is the part number
and nnn is the sub class.

I only want you to change the NN from 10 and 11, to 12 and 13.

I've gotten some complaints about missing towers and that should fix it in case you have it too.

Thanks for the tip, but the conning tower on one of my subs is still missing.
The other works fine though. The missing tower seems to happen a fair bit to me, first the Skipjack was missing the conning tower now this sub:damn:hmmm::. Well that's life. I also have the Ohio class if you were wondering, and it's tower works fine.:salute:

here is a numerical conflict in your

Downloaded this mod and have been playing around with the Foxtrot. Its a great boat. Looks beautiful, preforms well. But I can't figure out how to raise the radars or activate snorkel.

EDIT: I've only been running this mod by itself, no others.

when playing with the Foxtrot i get Depth charged....one impacted on the engines part...but in the damage panel i dont have damage...but it looks that i have a heavy flooding....the submarine is sinking...but i cant repair the damage because i dont see the flooding bar in the damage panel....is this normal? or a bug?

Awesome mod. But everytime I try to fire a torpedo from the November they seem to just sink to the bottom until they explode without a fountain or damage being done to my sub.And I noticed that their propellers arent spinning
