Graphic card crossfire connection

I like to play SHIII/GWX with very high graphics and recently I bought an ATI Radeon 3850 HD graphic card. In the package came an crossfire connection adaptor.
To make a crossfire connection the two graphic cards must be identical? If not, can someone give me a help to choose an ATI graphic card compatible with my ATI Radeon 3850 HD to make crossfire connection? Regards

Anyway, if you had such intentions why didn't you by a 4870 and let croosfire for future? In GWX 2.1 you will not see great diference with crossfire.
