Wwit 3 funnels? why?


If it is for LACONIA itself then ok. But as we can see from U-boat.net the liners of 10000-15000 had a similar design and in time from this can jump up others.

For the moment I would say that the freeboard needs some lowering???

That is by far the best modded liner (and one of the best modded ships) released so far. Well done.

I agree that the funnel rake should be reduced a little bit but everything else looks very nice.

Looking very nice. The bridge (is that correct in english ?) might be smaller as the picture of Laconia shows. Looks very massive in your design not as gracile as the original. But anyhow, good work !:up:

Yes, (18000ton) in 1917 was sunk by U.50 off Fastnet

Hi everyone!
I've make little adjustements related with model, i've armed it and i've tested.
After some CTD, now work fine, but zone file should be totally reworked (for solve problems i've rebuilded the ship on NPPL_ standard sh3 liner.

Hull zone is ok, but deck guns's shoots can't damage the decks (pass through!)

The problem is this: i don't know how to rework a zon file well °_°
Someone can help?
(Help mi with advices or do the zon file.. all helps are good, let's finish this unit)

I've placed a "official poster" in first post, here you can see weapons placed.
Remain unsolved ZONE problem °_° and i've found ANOTHER STRANE THING: when i use LACONIA and TITANIC togheter (titanic only, this is trange), i've a CTD with error in sim.act file. What ist this??

That's what I thought. Try cloning the ship again, and then check the text of the mission cfg document to see if you have the correct identifier for the ship.

Hurry up and release her! I want to stalk her, torpedo her, and skin her ASAP!:arrgh!:

Museum work (some ctd sometimes, but as always..)
OK, the test mission was bugged, and Laconia also, maybe.

Khow many units in you game where you Laconia testing? May be you need made new installs? What you write remeber me my problems with not enough videomemory (after insert new ships CTD). If insert in new install - all work excellent.

Finally, this was the Bug:

my RMS Titanic was corrupted, so it cause CTD in mission, and when i've re-builded Laconia on it, the bug has been "copyed and pasted on it".

I'm soo noob XD

Btw new laconia builded on BrAuxCruiser work fine; i'll continue on this!

EDIT
After others test, with a re-downloaded Titanic, they work fine also togheter.

If it is moded as an auxiliary cruiser, is it supposed to have so many liferafts as probably she wouldn't carry passengers? Or maybe these ships where used as troop transports as well:down: :down: ??

Interesting question; answer with wikipedia ^_^

During the period June-August 1941 Laconia returned to St. John (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_John,_New_Brunswick), New Brunswick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Brunswick) and was refitted, then returned to Liverpool to be used as a troop transport for the rest of the war. On September 12 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_12), 1941 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1941), she arrived at Bidston Dock, Birkenhead and was taken over by Cammell Laird and Company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cammell_Laird_and_Company) to be converted. By early 1942 the work was complete, and for the next six months she made trooping voyages to the Middle East. On one such voyage the ship was used to carry POWs, mainly Italian. She traveled to Cape Town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Town) and then set a course for Freetown, following a zigzag course and undertaking evasive steering during the night.

Props bug is related to node coordinates; easy to solve; this is a mine forgotten thing.
Reflection error is really strange, what can be? Textures are the same for bot original and reflected ship. There is something that i don't know:hmm: :hmm:

Prop problem sloved.
Is the anyone who could knock up a short misson with the ship in so i can test sinking her. I would do it myself but have not got a clue how to do it.

then set the minvisdim and maxvisdim to .02 and .2

OK,

In the dat is a 3D object named reflect_NAXC.
It's what the engine uses to produce the reflection.
The WaterReflection controller assigned to that object
controls the reflection.

The deck disappearing does not happen with the Zone file
I'm working on.

It's the same problem that the Titanic had.

Yep.
The Cabina is zoned as a Command Room.
That is a Critical Zone.
It needs to be changed.
Also, the cosh needs to be assigned as a child of the Cabina, not the main hull.

I belive i can fly, say the funnel °_° horrorific vision, this remember me Titanic development; all because the hull file was enough big for contain hull and decks togheter.

Dev system is still a no go.
I'll try installing needed tools to this backup system.
But it will not run SH3.
If need be, I can correct the zone some what by hex editing.
Until then,
change the parent of the cosh to the cabina.
that way it will no longer float if the cabina is destroyed.

The latest version works for me.
Well i have only sunk her just the once 2 torps one in the bow followed by one in the stern.
After the second torp hit she blew up in a massive explosion and sunk slightly by the stern with plenty of secondary explosions. The reason behind all the secondary explosions and there size is most likely because i have got GWX enhanced effects enabled

Will check her out again with various other sinking scenarios and report back what i find.

This time 2 shots into the Bow of her.
She managed to keep up her her original speed. But only for 6 minutes till her back end and screws rose out of the water. 3 minutes later she was at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Well just tried the 4 torpedo salvo and she sank like a stone on a even keel in under 2 minutes.
The was no part of the ship that went missing while this happened iam at a loss as to why the upper ship disapers as Recce showed before. But it does not dispear in my game.

The only other i can bring up about the ship so far from my testing is that the ship in the recon manual looks a little different to the ship in game. Look at the areas inside the red circles. Too me they look different but i might be wrong.

If the ship takes a good hit slightly behind the forward bridge,
it may destroy the Command Room zone.
That's when the whole deck will vanish.

I'm installing a second copy of XP now so I should be able to grab all my data
files soon.

I have a slightly corrected Zone file
that fixes this problem.

Right have just hit the ship 3 times in a row with 4 torpedoes in the command room area. But loss of any part of the ship. This is very perplexing:shifty:

You could edit the eqp file to remove all weapons then deck gun it.
That will show different areas and how damages affect them.

It's gonna be awhile before my main system is restored.

Just tested her out quite a few times. Even tryed her out in 39 with out her guns and sunk her with the deck gun.
All the old problems are fixed, i will vouch for that and The were no new problems that i could see.

All textures should be in the right place, reflextions use same model of ship, and same UVmap textures

I dont think the reflection problem is very bad at all.
Could it look different if you were using a enviroment mod?
As i have OLC Ubermod installed.

I've nearly got my system back to normal.
And I still have some adjustments to position of reflection objects and settings
to look at.

Also some finish up work on the zone file.

But it will have to wait till after,

Last patroal I attacked one of these comeing out of a port in Iceland in a convoy, Put one torp in it, and it eventualy after 3 minutes sank.:D Nice ship VonDos.:yep:
