They can be made.

I don't sink it is good idea since there are two conditions nessesary to meet those guns in game - they should be placed next to shores and our patrol areas should be next to them too. Still there are two Soviet railway guns as well as costal 12" twin Turret with some other costal guns in Blitzkrieg game.

You can meet in Koenigsberg in 1945. First salvo on base and ship in base made from 25 km from 305mm coastal railroad guns and after base bombardment from 180 - 356mm guns every day. Pillau, Stettin and more other german submarine base in baltic was bombardment this coastal guns.
And more - in Hanko 305mm guns firing up 30 km range. Pillau bombardment from range 60 km with long range and extra long range HE shells from 356mm coastal guns.

Nice idea, but why creating a rail gun for a subgame ? Never heard of that thing being attacked by a sub or attacking it. Only read of a submarine attacking a train in the blacksea area (U 24 in March 1944 at Sochi). Might be an interesting idea to add trains as a landtarget to strafe by sub...

In USSR Northern fleet coastal artillery near 10 firings to u-boats in surface. In Baltic U-78 sunk coastal artillery in Pillau 16.04.45 and few firings during war to other u-boats. In Black sea near 4 firings to emeny u-boats from soviet coastal guns.

Hi! I think this addition would be of better immersion because there are coastal cities in Europe that really experienced heavy bombing and any move to that direction adds realism.

Still not a critical for a subsim, but anyway any visible change in the condition of cities especially in 1944-1945 would be nice. That would of course require different house structures. This was also slightly offtopic so I will bring this up in another thread.

Anyway, I think railroad coastal artillery is a good idea. :yep:

If I'm not mistaken, a few of the 305mm railway guns still exist; from memory, one in St. Petersburg (railway museum?) and one at Krasnaya Gorka though in poor condition.

Regardless of if a Mod is NEEDED or not?
Is really a mote point.
We did not NEED Life Boats.
But they are as cool as can be!

We don't NEED Rail Guns.
But I've already seem a few in Game and they are COOL!!

You don't NEED Dolphins or Whales,
But everyone gets a great thrill out of seeing them!!

I say MOD the CRAP out of stuff!!
If people don't want it?
Don't use it.

Me?
I want realistic bunkers and such.
Not the generic glumps of 'what the heck is that?'
I see now!!

@ Privateer

305mm gun have wight of shell 470,5 kg and range 30,5 km. In concrete base under gun sector firing was 360 grad.

When you made 356mm and 500mm guns I place data after.

I glad see you work.:yep:

If the SH3/SH4 communities are not interested in those guns, I'm sure the IL2 community will be- they would be very useful and welcome additions indeed! Ditto for the "Dora", though it was only used during the siege of Sebastopol in 1942.
