Hello,
I'm a complete noob and have set all crewstations to autocrew.
I'm sitting in my 688 in an intercept quick mission I can hear single sonar pins now and then. Is it a contact pinging me or could it be my own autocrew sending active sonar pings without my consent?
Cheers
Luca

Get friendly with your sonar features. Even with auto crew on, you find that in all honesty they suck at their job 90% of the time. Sonar active intercept you can use and see the frequency and range of the source of the pinging you are hearing. This is useful to you because you know where they are.

I have a question related to this.

This looks like a very good way to find a solution for TMA, but when he says make that zigzag, do you have to be something on the sonar during that or will that be automatically computed? Thanks
(Also, if I am submerged while I am in a link with other ships, do I just need to raise a radio antenna to reconnect with them?)

Yes. You need to have some kind of contact with your target in order to do this. Even sporadic contact works but you want to try to keep in a position where you're hearing your contact on the broadband sonar at least. The position will be automatically calculated to the best of your TMA officer's knowlege depending on the information he's getting from your sonar track. If you have him turned off, you have to do it yourself. Zig zagging is a good way to get a pretty good fix on the target as you will get the targets' position at different extreme points of your zig zag and it will go far to help you somewhat triangulate him. Remember.. no solution is 100% correct although you can do things like zig zaging from different directions or passing the target and zig zagging from the opposite direction to help narrow down a more accurate fix on him.

This is correct.
