Hi everyone,
I love the great work the GWX team have done for all of us:up: , but two little things get in the way of my gameplay:
1. The 'Engineer Report' slider (fuel, baterry levels etc..) that snicks out from the lower left of the all screens.
2. The large compass that appears from the right-hand side.
I am always accidentally snagging on or other of these and would like to disable or remove them. It's probably down to my poor hand-eye co-ordination but they are seriously getting in the way!
Any help much appreciated.

The 'Report' slider will take some more research, but somebody will be along with the answer if I don't find it first.
As for the big Compass, I used this advice originally posted by Ichso:

Youre request can be done easily. I just took a quick look into the file and its about 3 little changes:
first, make backups of [SH3 install]\data\Menu\menu_1024_768.ini and one of [SH3 install]\data\Menu\cfg\Dials.cfg
second, edit the menu_1024_768.ini and find the string [G3F I300] in there.
You've got to delete the following eight blocks (the ones 'g3f i300' to 'g3f i307'). (That's no problem because no blocks are following behind them in this section).
Then third, go to the ...\data\Menu\cfg\Dials.cfg to it's very end and delete the the block there (which begins with [Dial 52]). You should also go to the beginning of the dials.cfg and decrease the DialsNo setting by one.
Let us know whether it worked out, but there shouldn't be any problems.
Unfortunately there's no easy mod you can just pop in to do it. It has to be done by hand.

Thanks for that info, Sailor Steve! I'll gird my loins and give it a go, although my computer 'skills' are about equivalent to a one-legged man on a pogo stick!
Only the other night the compass kept snagging my fire button when I was setting-up on a Dido CL. It distracted me so much I missed from 1300m with a two-shot spread.:damn:
Ta very much.

Yeah, that's one of the complaints several folks have had - the annoying habit of popping out right when you don't want it. I'm weird in a different way: I removed it so I could put it right back in again as part of FLB Sales' Simfeeling 6-Dials mod, which makes all the guages into big slideouts. Before I found out about removing it I had TWO compasses doing that!:dead:

Please share the fix if you're allowed to. That's good information for others that might have the same questions you did.
