found u-boat number. but still unsure about the other things. :hmm:
You don't have to report the weather and you don't have to
return to base. You'll get similar messages again in the future.
Check your Uboat's number at the crew control screen.

hi thanks for the quick reply.
just a day later i now get a message asking me to patrol between the faroe islands and norway. so this is ocnflicting message to previous one asking me to return to base. pr maybe they change their minds??
You will (sometimes) get radio messages mentioning a Uboat number
which is the same as yours. Nothing to worry about.:D

Those messages are often real historical messages that were sent to real u-boats. They are there for immersion only, to make it feel like you have company on the high seas. That they sometimes have your number is coincidence.
On the other hand, just for fun when I mine was one of the boats ordered to form a blockade from Iceland to the Faroes, I went, as it was my duty to do. Nothing there, and I wasted a couple of weeks hunting for ships that weren't there, but it was fun anyway.

What date are you at?
If you can tell me the date and time of your messages I can see if they're immersion or direction.
Despite writing the mod, which makes it easy to find out whether the messages are immerson or direction, I tend to go where BdU tell me to. It all adds to the experience.

A lot of the radio messages are purely for immersion....ear and eye candy.
WB's message mods should cut them down to a minimum.

slightly (well very) off topic, but thanks for supplying those gramophone tunes. i've only had chance to download the first pack so far, but it's been brilliant having more variety of music whilst i amble across the pacific.

Definitely immersion rather than directed.
If you only want to receive messages that give direction, try one of the messages lite mods - great for when there's not a lot of time to play.

Thanks WB.
If I stick with the full message mod (I quite like getting lots of messages for immersion reasons), how do I know which messages are for direction and which are purely there for immersion?
