I saw a nuke sub movie on Spike TV a few nights ago...it was called "Depth Charge." I guess you can already see the quality of the movie coming. It was basically a totally unrealisitc action movie enjoyable only when there is nothing else to watch and you need to kill some time before bed.

It was about a nuke sub captain who ransoms the US for $1 billion, with the threat that he will launch his nukes. Anyone else see this movie? Check out the features:

1. The renegade sub used what appears to be a Seawolf model.
2. The renegade sub had a "Stealth Mode." It needed the reactor to stay active.
3. The cap used an underwater telephone to call the president whenever he wanted.
4. There was damage in the aft torpedo room. Obviously a Seawolf doesn't have aft torpedoes.
5. The exterior model showed tiny VLS tubes open up when he was about to fire his nukes. They tried to fit about 26 tubes on the Seawolf model, so if you used a Seawolf as reference the VLS could probably hold at most one person, let alone a weapon.
6. When the missile left the water, stock footage of a ballistic missile was shown.
7. Whenever the camera cut to any submarine, you heard the pinging of active sonar as a sound effect. As if the concept of active existed in this movie.
8. A crewman said "Captain, our scanners have not detected anything!"

Anyway, that's all I can remember off the top of my head today. Pure Comedy.
