25 Ways to Be a Good Republican
1. You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong, because it’s a communist country. But trading with China and Vietnam is justifiable.
2. You have to believe that the public has a right to know about Clinton and Monica, but Bush needed to censor those 28 pages from the Congressional 9/11 report because there are just some things Americans don’t need to know.
3. You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers named in the Constitution – which includes banning gay marriages and censoring the internet
4. You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush’s daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a we-can’t-find-Bin Laden diversion

13. “Standing Tall for America” means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India so you can get products from WalMart
14. You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don’t pray to Allah or Buddha

18. You have to believe that we actually went to war in Iraq to find WMD’s because they were a clear and present threat to the United States
19. You have to believe Bill Clinton getting a blowjob in the Oval Office is appalling, but Newt Gingrich serving his wife with divorce papers on her deathbed is A-OK.
20. You have to believe that Fox News is fair and balanced
21. You’re not ashamed to tell everyone you believe in God, but feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and doing unto others as we would have others do unto us sounds like socialism
22. You have to believe that Clinton inhaling once is the sign of moral defect, while Bush’s drinking and driving was excusable because he was young
23. You have to believe that spending money on the war in Iraq is more important then fighting the drug dealers and gang members whom are harming American’s
24. You have to believe that it is much more important to know about all the dirt in a candidates past, then it is to listen to his beliefs and political ideas – unless of course he is a Republican
25. You have to believe that this message was authored by a left-wing pinko socialist bleeding heart liberal.

25 Ways to Be a Good Republican
1. You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong, because it’s a communist country. But trading with China and Vietnam is justifiable.
Evidently to be an independent you must believe this even though a democratic president (Kennedy) imposed it and another democratic prez strengthened it (Clinton)
2. You have to believe that the public has a right to know about Clinton and Monica, but Bush needed to censor those 28 pages from the Congressional 9/11 report because there are just some things Americans don’t need to know.
And you have to believe that this is unique to one party.
3. You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers named in the Constitution – which includes banning gay marriages and censoring the internet
And to be a liberal you must believe that government not restrict itself to the constitution, period. Also, one must consider FDR's administration a "high-point" in American Political History.
4. You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush’s daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a we-can’t-find-Bin Laden diversion
and to be a liberal, you must think that genocide is acceptable and you know something about WMDs or Iraq's history of being involved with them.
5. You have to believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in Vietnam, but right in Iraq
But to be a liberal you have to forget that U.S. involvement in both World Wars was under liberal leadership, and you have to believe that it was justified.
6. You believe that tobacco’s link to cancer and global warming are “junk science”, but Creationism should be taught in schools
But to be a liberal you must believe that tobacco-usage is not a person's right, global warming is man-made, and that we should have a public education system that for some bizarre reason, thinks that the government should have anything to do with education to begin with.
7. You have to believe that universal health care is wrong, and that HMO’s and insurance companies only have your best interests at heart
And to be a liberal you have to believe that government has your best interests at heart, despite being comprised of people.
8. You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money
But to be a liberal you need only believe that fighting everything can be done by demanding the AMerican people's cooperation and money.
9. You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all know if teenagers don’t have condoms they won’t have sex
Just like people that don't have guns won't kill each other, and people that don't have freedom won't hurt themselves.
10. You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits
Whereas liberals know that belittling their accomplishments and politicizing the war won't hurt them a bit in the form of political pressure and ridiculous Rules of Engagement.
11. You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you – and Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and liberals
But to be liberal you need only believe that everyone hates you and there should be a law to stop it.
12. You have to be against a woman’s right to choose, but support the murder of millions by air strike
But to be Liberal you only have to believe that airstrikes in Republican wars have caused more deaths than abortion in the U.S. alone. (I'm not even totally pro-life mind you, I just hate silly arguments)
13. “Standing Tall for America” means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India so you can get products from WalMart
"Doing what's best for America" means interfering with business so the corporations that outsourced smelly factories and crappy jobs will just move the whole operation somewhere else.
14. You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don’t pray to Allah or Buddha
Even though liberal education policy gave schools the power to determine that in the first place
15. You have to believe that government should stay out of people’s lives, but needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the same gender
You believe government should punish/regulate every other aspect of their lives
16. You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own
You believe that liberal politicians are somehow different from successful capitalists
17. You have to believe the ACLU is bad, because it supports the Constitution, but you support the NRA wholeheartedly
You have to believe that the ACLU has anything to do with the Constitution, but you think gun laws will affect criminals better than drug laws do.
18. You have to believe that we actually went to war in Iraq to find WMD’s because they were a clear and present threat to the United States
You have to believe that any war is about anything besides money or power
19. You have to believe Bill Clinton getting a blowjob in the Oval Office is appalling, but Newt Gingrich serving his wife with divorce papers on her deathbed is A-OK.
You have to believe that politicians should have power that allows their morality to affect the nation.
20. You have to believe that Fox News is fair and balanced
You have to believe anything big brother tells you
21. You’re not ashamed to tell everyone you believe in God, but feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and doing unto others as we would have others do unto us sounds like socialism
And to be a liberal you have to believe that we have hungry, naked people in this country and that people should not be allowed to decide whether or not they care, despite the efforts of private charity.
22. You have to believe that Clinton inhaling once is the sign of moral defect, while Bush’s drinking and driving was excusable because he was young
You have to grasp at straws.
23. You have to believe that spending money on the war in Iraq is more important then fighting the drug dealers and gang members whom are harming American’s
You have to believe that the drug war is not a failure with more casualties and at infinitely greater cost than the war in Iraq. While you're at it, throw in the War on Poverty.
24. You have to believe that it is much more important to know about all the dirt in a candidates past, then it is to listen to his beliefs and political ideas – unless of course he is a Republican
or conversely, if he is a Democrat.
25. You have to believe that this message was authored by a left-wing pinko socialist bleeding heart liberal.
You have to believe that this message was authored by a left wing pinko socialist bleeding heart liberal who says he is "independent"
That whole thing was a bit harsh, I know, I hope it can be taken in good humor.
I remain a Republican voter when no libertarians are on the ticket because I believe the GOP will not destroy the country as quickly.

Good stab:D But while I must admit that I would only make a lackluster attempt to defend social conservatism, I would welcome a challenge to my beliefs on constitutionalism and economic freedom. The proof is "in the pudding" so to speak, and this world is full of pudding.
So tell me Enigma, ( a fitting name as the reasons for your apparent political position are just that to me) how would you like to see the country run?

The ulltimate reason for the oposing political views in America seems to be increasingly that people in one party can' stand/cope with the other party member' opinion, and such any opinion expressed by one side is just contradicted by the other independently of being a right ou left type of proposal... though even this arcaic notion cant' be entirely looked upon for a "political frame"... for instance the right wing arty on the netherlands wich advocates euthanasia, welfare state policies such as taxpayer-paid daycare for working people, and permissive cannabis policy (or so the wikipedia says...:|\\bunch of hippies I say!:p)

Wow! In the USA, what you've described is the far left of the Democratic Party.:yep:

Thought I'd answer a few of these from the point of view of a foreign person. Actually I think both parties have some serious problems to solve if they want to improve US's standing around the world.
Also, one must consider FDR's administration a "high-point" in American Political History.
Well who comes close from the republican side then? Nixon? Reagan? Bush's?
and to be a liberal, you must think that genocide is acceptable and you know something about WMDs or Iraq's history of being involved with them.
Oh like about US selling some to them? And the present situation with the Abu Ghraib/Guantanamo/extraordinary renditions/etc. is ok?
6. You believe that tobacco’s link to cancer and global warming are “junk science”, but Creationism should be taught in schools But to be a liberal you must believe that tobacco-usage is not a person's right, global warming is man-made, and that we should have a public education system that for some bizarre reason, thinks that the government should have anything to do with education to begin with.
Tobacco use a person's right? You mean like, for kids too? I'm sure you have proof about global warming not being affected by the mankind?
Oh yea, a government comprised of people like Bush and Cheney. Can't say I would trust that type of thing to run health care.
8. You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money
But to be a liberal you need only believe that fighting everything can be done by demanding the AMerican people's cooperation and money.
Are the American people somehow opposed to big corporations paying the bill for USA's wars?
9. You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all know if teenagers don’t have condoms they won’t have sex Just like people that don't have guns won't kill each other, and people that don't have freedom won't hurt themselves.
Teenage pregnancies, guns and Jesus. Sounds like a recipe for freedom to me.
10. You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits
Whereas liberals know that belittling their accomplishments and politicizing the war won't hurt them a bit in the form of political pressure and ridiculous Rules of Engagement.
Ending up in a VA-hospital kinda qualifies as torture.
11. You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you – and Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and liberals
But to be liberal you need only believe that everyone hates you and there should be a law to stop it.
Oh yea they kill blacks, abortion doctors and homosexuals out of love, how could I forget that.
12. You have to be against a woman’s right to choose, but support the murder of millions by air strike
But to be Liberal you only have to believe that airstrikes in Republican wars have caused more deaths than abortion in the U.S. alone. (I'm not even totally pro-life mind you, I just hate silly arguments)
What Enigma wrote earlier.
13. “Standing Tall for America” means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India so you can get products from WalMart
"Doing what's best for America" means interfering with business so the corporations that outsourced smelly factories and crappy jobs will just move the whole operation somewhere else.
I think this is a kind of a tie. You're both right, and both wrong. :D
14. You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don’t pray to Allah or Buddha
Even though liberal education policy gave schools the power to determine that in the first place
Determine that christianity > other religions? Where?
15. You have to believe that government should stay out of people’s lives, but needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the same gender You believe government should punish/regulate every other aspect of their lives
Haha, another tie, although I have to say I do find the republican side here very creepy. How can they talk about less government while enforcing policies that go against certain types of unions between adults? Although I have to admit my own country does that too, no gay marriages here.
16. You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own You believe that liberal politicians are somehow different from successful capitalists
Inherited wealth seems to be a pretty common denominator among republicans.
17. You have to believe the ACLU is bad, because it supports the Constitution, but you support the NRA wholeheartedly
You have to believe that the ACLU has anything to do with the Constitution, but you think gun laws will affect criminals better than drug laws do.
I don't understand why you couldn't have both drug and gun laws that you both desire. A compromise?
18. You have to believe that we actually went to war in Iraq to find WMD’s because they were a clear and present threat to the United States
You have to believe that any war is about anything besides money or power
Ok...so that makes it right?
19. You have to believe Bill Clinton getting a blowjob in the Oval Office is appalling, but Newt Gingrich serving his wife with divorce papers on her deathbed is A-OK.
You have to believe that politicians should have power that allows their morality to affect the nation.
Again, wait...isn't that kind of more in the republican base, that type of thinking...? Or is it? Confusing. :)
20. You have to believe that Fox News is fair and balanced
You have to believe anything big brother tells you
Big brother? The tv-show?
21. You’re not ashamed to tell everyone you believe in God, but feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and doing unto others as we would have others do unto us sounds like socialism And to be a liberal you have to believe that we have hungry, naked people in this country and that people should not be allowed to decide whether or not they care, despite the efforts of private charity.
You know, take it from someone who lives in country where taxes are supposedly high. Having a strong governmental health care etc. doesn't take away people's right to do more good. On the contrary, I would say, people in so called high taxation nations are often the most willing to help out even more in the form of collections, help to the starving etc.
22. You have to believe that Clinton inhaling once is the sign of moral defect, while Bush’s drinking and driving was excusable because he was young
You have to grasp at straws.
Bush also used cocaine. And I've never even smoked weed. :)
23. You have to believe that spending money on the war in Iraq is more important then fighting the drug dealers and gang members whom are harming American’s
You have to believe that the drug war is not a failure with more casualties and at infinitely greater cost than the war in Iraq. While you're at it, throw in the War on Poverty.
How about they're all failures?
Man, US politics is confusing sometimes.

I believe South Park provided an excellent analogy to this problem in an episode in which the children had to choose between a "Giant Douche" and a "Turd Sandwich" as their school mascot.

Although when looking at politics in my country there are still the occasional scandal etc. and problems with things like transparency. One party with a markedly anti-immigration policy is gaining ground so we have our own populists too. With the US it's a question of scale especially on the whole country - level, I guess the part that Europeans don't often see about the US is the state - level politics.

Sounds very arrogant of you to say that "Ol' Europe" is just trying to keep America out of trouble. We had to take the lead role in rebuilding "Old Mother Europe" last century after you guys nearly destroyed yourselves, we intervened militarily helping to conduct regime change in Nazi Germany and Mussolini's Italy, and protected you from an expansionist and hostile Soviet Union for the last 50 years. How quickly these things are forgotten.
Actually, you guys need to worry about yourselves. You and the rest of the European continent as a whole are not perfect. Very flawed in fact. Very cocky of you to think otherwise......especially from what I've seen of you guys over there. Europe is nothing special in comparison to anybody else. And no, most of us don't care what you think about us or the decisions we make. Your press and ours make you think we do. But we really don't. Seriously, you guys may need to polish up your own image. Some of you guys look arrogantly ignorant to many of us. Not all of you, but those of you with this attitude do. What do you suppose you need to do to improve your own image to the USA? I mean, gee-whiz, I don't get where some of the people from your continent think that we "need" to impress you or gain your approval everytime we make a decision. We simply don't. Where the heck did you guys ever get that idea? It's quite comical, and reeks of arrogance. You may consider how you need to improve that image. I actually prefer to think of Europe as a mutual partner. While I may come across as harsh here, there is a point to it. We have benefitted from our relationship with you guys as well. But this whole notion that we owe you anything, need to "improve our image" to you, or that we need to strive to gain your approval in how we run our nation doesn't fly.
I won't address your views regarding either Mr. Bush or Mr. McCain.

Well I managed to find one of your statements on gays in 5 minutes:
What absolute hogwash. I think it's the other way around. Homosexual's and their fellow activists are intolerant bigots to society at large and view anybody who disagrees with their agenda in complete disdain. Wishing to keep societal norms and working to those ends is denying nobody any rights. Homosexuals can marry, but only people of the opposite sex. Also, the right to marriage doesn't exist at all. But marriage is a well defined institution. I don't think many of the people of this thread can see the distinction. Nor do they want to.

But nice try to save face by pulling anything out of your hat though. You simply can't find the false statement you accuse me of, so you just make anything up. Typical.

Don't make me laugh! My nephew lives in the Midwest (Missouri). The school he goes to has recruiters come there quite frequently (about once a month). In keeping with our founder's principles, our wisest course of action would be to refrain from entering any wars in which we are not directly threatened, other than to sell weapons and supplies to both sides.

This seems lik a converstion between a teenager and his parents... America doesn't care about what old mother Europe has to say, she's old she doesn't understand what a teencountry needs! But some years latter they'll come to accept their differences, and America wll see that ol' Europe was just trying to do what was best for her:hmm:
sometimes you get a little bit too cocky....
Bush or Mr. McCain.
Ok maybe I didn't passed the idea I was intending too... People in Europe look to the USA and expect them to do good, expect them to do better than Europe, exactly for the reasons you've mentioned before.I thing it's in the interest of everyone that the USA have a strong economy, and good relatios abroad, because when they do, mostly there is a very good economic growth world over. But we can't view this as a competition, and we can talk about national pride and such, and collectve thinking, but Nations DON'T HAVE egos! people do! (let alone europe,or do you really thing that all of europe contries just formed a gestalt of ego to throw at america?). We're entitled to an opinion, as you are, and everybody is, even those idiots who wanted to kill those cartoonist over Maomé's (thats how in portugal we write mohamed) pictures, or those guys who choose not to accept evolution (tho I PITY THE FOOLS!) or the neonazi guys in europe (and Israel...:rotfl:)... For instance, I truly believe there's a lot more racism in europe than in the states, at least in general. I think that in Portugal or france or even the UK we won't see a black man running office in a long run (though with women we got ahead...but that's because we don't grow moustaches anymore, damnit!:ping:-long story...-) So what I said about ol europe as a mom and america as a teeeage daughter is just a smartass analogy that's suppose to be funny supposed to be funny (and a little bit thruthfull ehehe)... The thing about McCain and Bush was just to bust your balls and see if you'd burst in a unholy blast of posting anger, didn't work... would be funny...

"It's always about choosing between some douche and some turd.":D
The entire political system summed up as well as it can be.
Please note that I did NOT, repeat NOT, say the US political system. It applies to political systems all over this planet. If I'm wrong someone please name a political system that involves no douches and no turds:doh:
well this depends on whether you have a two-party system or not. In Saudi Arabia, for example, you just get the turd...or is it the douche?

I watched Mccain's speech today on cnn. Those elections are a world wide show, so why not, I said to myself. It was nice, even some drunk bird was doing some wacky stuff, couldn't see what. People cheering, much like every other election gathering in the world..
But they reminded me of some movies about nazis.. :rotfl: All arians.. Honkies.. Whities.. Maybe I didn't see it right.. Strange considering USA has about 50% percent not white, am I right? Rich texas families?
Not I am pissing on republicans. I think Mccain is one 100% American. Father and grandfather navy admirals. 5 years as a prisoner in vietnam. One true cowboy.. :rotfl: I am kidding but he seems to me like a man USA has to have as a president. Obama is IMO to nice to be true..
Cowboy..
That reminded me of Putin with cowboy hat :rotfl: :rotfl: Nice touch..
Cheers!
