View Full Version : 'Ghost' locks

I'm using BBW's AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix but the buildings on and around the two locks are white/grey. I think I'm missing a texture file, but which one and how can I get a copy of the correct file to replace it?
The mod is enabled via JSGME and has no reported conflicts (nothing has overwritten any of the files).
Images will follow once imageshack accepts my screen shots!

Download the mod again but from a different source to be doubly sure it isn't a faulty download.

I've tried BBW's mod twice now, plus the individual lock mods just to be sure and I've still got the same problem.

You might try what I did, since I'm not a very trusting soul (myself least of all): I took the 'fix' to mean just that, and installed the original 'Locks' mods and then the fix. Never had a problem.

26 TGAs in the tex folder. I'm just trying Sailor Steve's fix.

I'll sleep on it and try again tomorow.

I'm currently using:
Schleuse_Brunsbuettel_MOD_V.1.0
Schleuse_Holtenau_MOD_V.1.0
AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix (no version number)
all activated in that order with no other mods activated.

I'd have thought the AOTD mod incorporated the other two :hmm:
I'm u/l my texture folder for you....replace yours with it and see if that sorts matters out.

Give this a go mate, it's gotta be worth a try:

Jim,
Thank you, but no joy. I guess something else is screwing the locks.

Sorry to hear that mate.....how about posting a list of the mods your using and maybe we can find precisely where the conflict is.

Clean install of SH3 v1.4b, GWX 2.0 then GWX 2.1 followed by JSGME install of AOTD-AA-Ship-Schleuse-Bugfix (no version number).
Can someone please upload a clean copy for me - I've tried 2 separate downloads and neither have worked.

Stooopid me - jimbuna's signature block always has the answers!
Complete uninstall and reinstall coming up - see you in an hour.

Now I really do need an expert - the problem seems to lie somewhere in the savegame files!
I completed a clean install with files from jimbuna's site (thanks, jim), loaded up and had the correct textures on the houses.
I put my old 'SH3' folder back into My Documents, loaded up and was back to ghost houses.
Deleted the SH3 folder from My Documents and... textures back on the houses.
I'm going to put the old files back into the SH3 folder and try and find out which one of them was causing the problem.

Well I certainly don't consider myself to be an 'expert' but how about just scrapping the SH3 folder altogether and starting afresh :hmm:

I've done that:yep: , but want to try and rescue some of my careers. If I put the folders back one at a time I'm hoping to identify the one that is screwing with the houses and minimise the damage to the rest.
Hopefully I'll also find out what the hell has been going on.
Thank you BBW, jim and steve for your help - subsim is a great example of 'ask and ye shall receive', whether it's help, advice or 'how have I screwed up my install this time!'
If I get to the bottom of the problem I'll let you know.

Well thats most odd
Not heard of a career\save game altering the textures on view like that
Yes will be interesting to find out if you fix that
As you say try adding one career at a time back in
Hopefully the current one will be ok

Me neither but I'm just wondering if a texture file has got mixed in with one of the career saves after the subsequent mod installation.
All it can be really :hmm:

Even after I replaced the texture files with jim's originals I had the problem.
I'm just wondering if it could be one of the other files in the SH3 folder - main, progress, replay or save (I've added NavalAcademy, GameplaySettings and playersettings with no dramas).

You my friend, must have the patience of a saint
Long ago, I'd have cut my losses, sacrificed the careers and started over again with the working version :yep:

I'm determined to find where the fault came from but have finally cracked - I'm off the Canaries in my IXB career that I've managed to salvage.
I'm determined to go back via Brunsbuttel to see if the textures are back, but want to have some fun en route.

Finally worked it out - I'd incorrectly installed the mod that changes textures for the Mediterranean theatre of ops.
I adjusted it and placed it into SH3 Commander so I didn't have to apply it manually. If I remember rightly, it also changed the texture of the buildings to give Mediterranean ones a whiter texture and a more Med feel. My version of the mod was date related (which is why I put it into SH3 Commander) and by getting rid of my career savegames it incidentally reset the buildings in the locks to the correct colour by resetting the date. There was nothing wrong with the savegames themselves.
It's taken me 2 months, but at least I know that I was the one to blame!
Wouldnt it be easier to put the textures in the Flotilla folders of commander
As the Med plane skins are ?
No need for dates then
When you choose that flotilla in commander skins enabled

That's the way I've now got around it - put the files into 907.
