Hello Kaleuns,:D

I'm afraid I'm in need of some help. Don't now if I'm right opening a new thread, but I didn't find a CTD where mscrv71.dll is involved.
It Happened to me twice returning to Lorient, after having bagged some 120.000 tons on each patrols... Grrrr !! :nope: :damn: . Really start to get p....d off for good with that so exceedingly sensitive and moody b....y game. One day I swear I'm gonna dump it for good. ( I say that, but you know the story...)
So as I said, it happens when I reach about 35 km from Lorient, surfaced, same in both cases. Gives me a "mozaique" kind of a screen for 1 second, and then CTD .
But before that kind of CTD I've had an other issue, which is not really a CTD but everytime I want to exit the gabe "Spiel beenden" I get that "Mozaique screen". To describe it : those are stripes of black and coloured rectangles about 1 x 1/4 inch all over the screen.
I Ctrl + alt + del with no effect so the only way for me back to the Desktop, is to
manually unplug the PC . Bad :nope: . But still, speaking of the second problem, my game is ok after that. Unless it triggered the mscrv71 CTD at the end.
I need some of your grey cells to help me on that. More often than not, I also get random Sh3.dll CTD'S, to give a bit of variety in the frustration. It's always the same : Carriers start ok for 2 or 3 patrols and then slowly but surely some weirdo things start to degenerate.
Any idea you SH3 little geniuses ???
Thanks in advance and sorry for the trouble.

What are your mods?

Are you using vanilla SH3 or a supermod attached?

some mods may conflict with a supermod like GWX etc.

System specs can play an issue. Ram, Vid card etc.

Or just corrupted files. Its possible that everytime you force a shutdown your making bad sectors on your HDD and it may need a fix.

There are unlimited possibilities that can cause CTDs. Mod evident are miss managed mods or poor system resourcing.

Truethfully I have no idea what is causing your problem. All i can say is remove all your mods and try one at a time to root out the bad one. If any.

Or how did you install SH3 plus patches?

Sorry if I can't help you more dude.

The "mscrv71.dll" is part of a virus or trojan horse. Thats why u have ctds. I googled for it and Norton refused to allow a connection to the found webs and gave a virus warning.

Well the mscrv71.dll might be as original a system.dll but browsing the forums u will catch a modified dll or dl a virus visiting them.

Would anyone go on such webs ? Look only at the headers they start all the same way. It seems the original dll is popular by virus designers for distribution often find their way to filesharing webs they are specialized for. The symtoms he described fullfill the most indications of a virus.

To Wolfehunter, Nirvana, Fubar2niner, Squaresteelbar,Bigboywooly, Lzs von Swe,

Sorry lads, I was off for a while. Thank you all for your answers.

To Wolfehunter :
I haven't made any changes recently to my mods, and if I do I always rollback SH3 Commander, and do it in port. I have an SH3 patched 1.4 and GWX 2.1.
My system has been ok so far, with 2.8 Ghz and 1024 RAM.
When this started to happen, I'm sure I hadn't done any MODS modifications since 2 or 3 patrols...

To Nirvana and Fubar2iner,
Just my luck. Didn't know this was a trojan horse. Too bad it's an SH3 file too. thanks you for your advise, will have a look into the web and see if I can get it fixed...

To Squaresteelbar,
Thanks for the link, will dig into that, and see if it has any effect.

To Bigboywooly,
Yeah, I know it's in the SH3 folder, that's why I'm worried to see it might be infected with a virus.

To Lzs von Swe,
I know at the end I probably will have to uninstall and reinstall it. :damn: :damn:
With all the small modifs, it generally took me a whole day or even more.:dead:
But fortunately I recently made a copy of my install when it was working correctly,
so it should be much easier.:smug:

Thanks to all again and Gute Jagd.

Can anyone of you recommend a reliable registry cleaner ? I've got something like 850 items to be repaired in my registry. :nope: . JMV.

Have you tried CCleaner? It has a pretty good registry cleaner that allows you to make backups in case you remove something that you shouldn't have. It's free so there isn't a trial period or nag screen and it's virus and spyware free too. I'd recommend the slim version as it doesn't include the Yahoo or Google toolbar (can't remember which one comes with the standard version) but does everything else the standard version does. You can get it here: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds.

Thank you Murr44, I actualy have this one, but it seems it's doing a very poor job on the Registry section of it.
I think I actually found an efficient one there :
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
Thank you very much for your help.
That said, and even after a registry cleaning, and replacing the msvcr71.dll, I still have the same problems mentionned above : mosaique like screen when Alt+Tab, or " Spiel Beenden".
Have to disconnect puter from main and boot again. Dont know what's causing that...:nope: :damn: JMV.
