View Full Version : Is this mod file correct?

I dled the interior dive angles fix earlier, and was a bit puzzled by the actual name of the file when completed.I am still a bit unsure whether this is in fact the correct file download I was directed to.The file appears to have no alphabetical name just a series of about 50 garbled letters and numbers. The file was also downloaded through Download Accelerator.
The file begins with : e2c5b1....
Please, anyone with experience of this mod let me know if this file sounds correct, and also,as there was no readme with the mod I don't know where to install it.
Finally,if this is the correct file how will I know it has been installed correctly,in other words are the visible changes in the game large enough to notice immediately?Another thing, are you ok renaming mod files yourself, will that result in preventing the mod to work in the game?

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like it may have been fubared when you DL it. The mysterious numbers sound like a hash-check. Try DL it again without a DL accelerator.

Problem is,I still use dialup (yes I know :nope: ) and downloading files of that size without DAP I risk breaking the download from the 2 hr time out with dial up.
Whats fubared anyway,is it slang for ********d? and this hash check, can you just clarify on that?

Thanks for the info on this subject anyway.

F**ked - Up - Beyond - All - Recognition

sounds like the download went corrupt, you can play without it for now though

also there is

"BOHICA" - "Bend Over, Here It Comes Again"

"SNAFU" - "Situation Normal, All F**ked Up"

"Charlie Foxtrot" - "Cluster F**k" (a massive screw up or a massive battle)

"TARFU" - "Totally and Royally F**ked up"

and many many more :rotfl:

lets use them in a sentence shall we?

"Your download of the dive angles mod was TARFU, so when your file finally downloaded it was a major charlie foxtrot"

My favorite acronym is E.B.C.A.K. or E.B.P.A.K...

Error Between Chair (or Player) and Keyboard

Rivet, you're just too funny mate :rotfl:
Seriously now, what could have caused the cluster f**k of my file?

What about TUPAK.? hahaha, dead as a doornail!

Any number of things could cause it.
It could be anything from a loss of bytes while DL, to just a problem with the file.

If you have a link I'll DL and see if I occur any problems.

Orion,

All I did when directed to filefront from the mods workshop was right click and choose 'download using DAP' . I have a feeling DAP was to blame, somehow :-? .I can't imagine the mod workshop posting corrupt files,as they surely are checked for such things?.

The DL link seems fine, extracted fine as well.

Don't think my carrier pigeons would make it across the big pond so, all I can recommend is trying to DL it again, maybe this time without the DL accelerator, although I understand it may take longer.

If you get the correct diving angles mod installed but you don't like the way the hydraphone station moves around, with some of the boats (really bad), just let me know & I will upload the adjusted files.:yep:
PS. Not sure who's mod it is but I like it!!:yep:

Seriously now, what could have caused the cluster f**k of my file?

well, sometimes this just happens and the reason for it is simply... "because"

just try the download again and usually it will work the second time around, if it goes hay wire again, just try a different download location

If I manage to dl the file this time does anyone know the location its meant to go in?,as I said before, there is no readme for this file. :nope:
And thanks VM,I will consider your invitation to send me a CD,but surely this must cost me in some way,I could'nt possible expect you to pay for the delivery etc :o

If you manage to download it successfully, you'll find it's JSGME ready.

If you're not already using JSGME to install and uninstall mods, get it now. It's invaluable.

And if you decide you do want the cd, just let me know. No charge. Anyroad up, I know better than to try to get money out of a Yorkshireman :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Don't know where you heard that from VM,about Yorkshire men being 'tightfisted' ,can't say that applies to me.So,if you didnt expect money, what did you expect from us,a Yorkshire pudding?! :88)
Anyway,i'll let you know if I want it.

Cheers.
