I have RFB installed and am trying to muck about with the Deck Gun reload times, but am discovering that no matter what value I plug into the .sim file there seems to be no effect in-game.

Still takes forever.....gun crew stops to take a smoke break halfway through each shell.

Is this because Im using a saved career?

Once you start a career are you cursed with the same settings no matter what?

Ideas?

ok lets start from the begining:

BEFORE MODDING ANYTHING YOU NEED A CLEAN FRESH BACKUP COPY OF THE "DATA" FOLDER

1 - before attempting to use the 3ditor you need to uninstall all mods or you will corrupt the mods themselves as well as corrupting your game files.

(if you have already done this then you messed up and you need to uninstall and reinstall the game or you may have strange issues from corrupted files. if you have it, delete the old one and replace the entire "Data" folder with a clean back up copy. also delete any mods that werent uninstalled before using the 3ditor and replace them with clean fresh new copies)

2 - create a mod folder to test the changes to the files you wish to make to the game and structure the mod folders with the exact file path and file names as you use to find the file in the game.

3 - DO NOT MOVE ANY FILES, only COPY to the desktop the file or files you wish to change and again make sure there are no mods installed when you copy them.

4 - now use the 3ditor to make the changes you want to the files you put on your desktop, then move the modded files into the mod folders you made.

5 - now just put the mod you made into jsgme "mods" folder and reinstall your mods then install the mod you made and see what you have done.

Okay....so Im basically making a mod....not modifying the actual data file.

I guess Im just not sure why when I have the reload time already set to 4 or whatever...I still get these long reload times. (no posts please on the realism aspect...I get it)

Okay...did everything you said.....

I have all the .sim files set at reload times of 4....gun crew at max efficiency.....men at battlestations....

Reload times take forever.

Does RFB just override everything you do no matter what?

Don't get insulted!!! That makes you want to continue reading doesn't it?:rotfl:. I have seen this happen.....ok, ok, I'm the one that did it.:nope::damn:
If you are working from a backup folder, are you copying that backup folder to the mod folder each time you make a change? I know it sounds dumb but I was in a hurry and forgot to do that and didn't know why the changes were not working.
I was only making the changes to the backup file and didn't copy to the mods folder.

Do I have to type my name?

not as long as your mod is installed after rfb, that way rfb wont over ride your mod

what i found was the real time is slightly more (about 1 extra second) than the number you pick, a 1 second reload will actually be about 1 1/2 to 2 seconds in game.

however, are you aware that 4 seconds is the original stock setting?

if returning to stock reload times is what you want then the easiest thing is to just delete the files that your modding from the rfb mod your using and then it will leave the reload times at stock setting of 4 second reloads.

try 2.5 seconds first then try 3 seconds and see how it feels, it should give you right at 3-4 seconds reload times

im sure your testing reload times right away, but be aware that crew fatigue in game will also slow down reload times as well

Yes...Im just testing right now...I picked the stock setting so I could easily compare it.

I'll play with it some more....I appreciate the help....sorry if I was getting a bit frustrated.
