I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I'm not sure where, so apologies for asking what might already have been covered many times, but.....
Does 2.1 have 16km visibility, or does it stick with default? If default, how can I install 16km? Is it in the 'mods' folder and enabled via JMSE (or whatever it's called - sorry!)?
Just wondering, as my new career seems to have crappy vision for my crew (although they are all 'noobs' in Oct 39, of course!).
If it IS something that needs to be enabled, are there other mods the GWX crew recommend enabling? My machine should be able to handle anything (it's a Athlon FX-62 dual core with 2GB RAM and a Radeon X1950 XTX 512Mb graphics card).
Please advise when you've a moment.
Incidentally, thanks SO much for all the brilliant work. I'm an old hand at NYGM, which I loved, and have come to see how GWX is in comparison (started on GXW 2.0). I'd say it's different but every bit as much fun - top quality and, as the advertisement says, an experience !!

:D Hi there Steeltrap.
No ,not the GWX2.1 , but JSGME .
When you have downloaded and installed JSGME , the modenabler(JSGME)have made a Mod folder automatically . The Mod folder will you find in the " SH3 directory", and there you will see alot of mods that's been made when you downloaded the JSGME .There you will find the Mod "GWX-16km Atmosphere".
When you use the JSGME , move the mod "GWX-16km Atmosphere" from left to right . In that JSGME you will see two-2- arrows pointed at left and on the top , there you will see one arrow pointed at right , when you push that button it say : " Enable selected Mod" . First , before you push that button , push on the mod "GWX-16km Atmosphere", when you finished doing that , it will move from left to right . And there you go:lol: GOOD LUCK:up:
And welcome back.
That's me the first time I used those mods:

Install the 16km ATM via JSGME. Your rig will be fine running with all bells & whistles.
Edit - Be in port with Sh3 Commander rolled back, if you're using it. The GWX manual details the use of Commander and all additional mods. Available by clicking on my Sig.

Thanks guys.
I am familiar with using JSGME, and installed the 16km mod accordingly.
A related question - does it in any way affect the weather 'fix' that is part of 2.1? I've found the weather since installing it is absolutely ****e, whereas there had definitely been an improvement in 2.1 prior to running the mod.
Again, thanks for the comprehensive replies.
Cheers

Can you clearify that statement a bit?
Did you run 2.1 for awhile and then install a weather fix?
Cause I think 2.1 had the fix to start.
By installing a second fix?
You could have whacked things in a big way!

I had started a patrol in 2.1 and noticed 2 things:
1. the visibility range seemed poor, by which I meant ships were being spotted at around 4km max, even in 'unlimited' visibility. That made me think the visibility was at 'stock' level of 8km, reduced by conditions and crew attributes.
2. the weather was much better. I encountered a storm or two, but they lasted around a day at most, and usually less than that. The original weather tended to be crappy for days on end.
I then installed the 16km mod and started a new patrol as I was only part-way into the other patrol, so needed to delete that career before installing the mod etc. That took care of the visibility range (and I'm used to 16km from NYGM). I noticed, however, that the weather seems to have gone back to the 15m/s, heavy overcast and rain (on and off) that lasted for as many as 4 days without interruption. Either I've been very unlucky, or I figured it might be possible that the 16km mod altered the weather in some way.
Hence my question.
Hope this explains things more fully.
Cheers
