Hi skippers,

first i want to sent a big thx to all the modders who make this game so much fun.

I am from germany 47 yrs old and school is out for more than 30 yrs. So i hope my english is good enough to explain my technical problems with the mods i love most.

I use mods since sh2. When i bought stock sh4 i faced a problem that everyone knows. Not enough render power means less fps. So decided to take up for a new pc in September 2007.

Intel E 6600 @ 2. 4Ghz
Gainward Nvidia 8800 GTX 768 MB DDR3
4x1 GB DDR2 800+ RAM purpose-built by manufacturer A-Data as Dual-Channel Ram
Gigabyte P35-DS3P Mainboard Sound on Board
22" LG Digital TFT 16:10 Wide Screen Monitor

NOTHING OVERCLOCKED !!

Windows Vista 64 Bit Ultimate

Everything went fine. SH4 always@60fps. All Mods running well. Other Games like World in Conflict, Age of Empires 3, Warhammer 40k (Dawn of War) no probs last year, no probs today. :D

Not so SH4-- the problems started with the Addon--so called U-Boat Missions or SH4 1.5.:o

This is my actual favourite Modding list:

TMO 1.52
PE3 Install
PE3 Special Effects for TMo
PE3 Submarine bubbles....
PE3 Ship debris
PE3 Real reflections...
PE3 Patch for TM
RSRDC_TMOv15_V371
RSRDC_V371_Patch10

If i do do so the game mutates to a random "Blue Screen" Generator. Some times i can play for hours and hours and nothing happens. Next time the game is over in a minute. Sometimes i must have a real dark night with nasty weather and fire the deckgun or the explosion by a torpedo---crash-----Sometimes its enough to stay on the bridge and take a quick look around--crash. Because i tried every adjustment from the graphic card and also in the BIOS without any solution i am really stumped.:damn:

I must accent that today i can use the stock game + stock addon without any crash (but i dont do this coz i dont like it).
I can use mods like the playable Iowa. I can use the RSRDC ( but i havent tested this much)-- i think this mod changes nothing in some files that my nvidia dont understand. LOL.
Using the Trigger Maru or the Real Fleet Boat is just gambling.

Any Idea to encircle or solve the problem is welcome.

Btw: I have all Nvidia Drivers for Vista 64 tested from 163.. to the actual 175.19. The 163.24 is the only one that makes a CTD ( and no other game works). All other drivers lead to Blue Screen.:hmm:

i have:

Q6600 2.4ghz quad core
4gb ddr2 ram
evga 8800gt 512mb
Gigabyte P35-DS3L Mainboard
22" Samsung Wide Screen Monitor

you have vista and im using Windows XP so it not the same, but i use 1.5 Ad-on have never had any problems and rarely see any slow fps

also try a complete new install of the game, often people forget to uninstall a mod and install the ad-on on top of an installed mod and that will result in corrupted game files.

to be safe uninstall game and delete any remaining sh4 folders then start over fresh, this will make sure you know its not a game issue.

if that doesnt fix it then im pretty sure its a vista driver problem and not a computer or game issue.

There is a problem with certain Geforce 8800 and Vista, read more here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=136848&highlight=8800+crash

Or try search on Subsim for "8800 crash" or "8800 CTD", welcome to subsim  I hope you will find a solution.

I have seen problems caused by a Power Supply that is to low.
What is your Power Supply Rateing?
Off the shelf Systems have a bad habit of being border line
on the Power Supply.

Some Vid Cards go Nuts if they can not pull the power needed.
And then crash the whole system as not enuff power is left!
