There are a number of mods that alter the draft depth on ships in SH3, such as the GWX ships bouyancy & draft mod, Stz sinking ship fix,Rbs2 with bouyancy for SH3 lifeboats etc, and it's got to the point where i can't believe the recognition manual figures any more.
I was thinking of looking up the draft in the sim files for each ship in the Sea folder, using S3D, and altering the values in whichever file generates the RM figures so they match.
So my question is, which file generates the recognition manual figures?
As a case in point, i just looked up the NKC4 in the Sea/CFG file and it stated the draft as 10 metres, but when i opened the sim file using S3D it said the draft was 9.2m.
So which one is true?
Try a single mission
Shoot at 10m with event camera on and see
Recognition text come from text file
NLSQ__en for ship NLSQ
German is NLSQ__ge and France NLSQ__fr
NKC4_en for NKC4 etc

Thanks Reise, i figure the real depth will be whats in the sim file, since thats one of the 3D model files for the ship.
Now i can go through the sims one by one and alter the _en files to the same values.
Hopefully that will give me accurate drafts :yep:
Haven't got an event camera or external view any more, unless i change realism settings to experiment.
With a bit of luck i won't need to now.

Be aware that,
depending on who and how the ship was built?
You may need to adjust all wakes info as well.
Sink it or raise it to high?
Wakes and bow spray can be messed up.

Did someone utter my name? :p
While working on my mod, I also noticed that the draughts in the .sim file often did not match with the draughts listed in the Recognition manual. Actually, the _en files control the text output in the museum files, not the RM. It's the .cfg file in the data/Sea/ folder that you need to change to match the .sim file. I've already done this for all of the merchants in my personal installation of SH3. However, my STzSinkingShipFix mod only adjusts the .cfg files to match the changed .sim files of the ships in my mod.
I can upload a copy of my data/Sea folder with the matched .sim and .cfg files if you wish, but I can't guarantee that it won't make some unexpected changes to things like the ship's wake, as Privateer noted. So, be sure to make a backup first!!
