Hei Kaleuns!
I have just finished a very interesting book, the memoirs of Kapitänleutnant Heinz Schäffer, commading officer of U-148 and U-977. In the book, Schäffer does mention a radar jamming system that were used at least from 1943 onwards. He calles the system "the surface ghost", and describes it as gas-filled balloons with a small sheet of metal hanging under it. The balloons contained just enough gas to keep them floating above surface, and thus created an artificial radar contact that looked like a submarine conning tower on the radar screen. They were used in groups, one sub could throw up to then of them in tight situations, and escape when the enemy hunts false targets. All this was done on surface.
Haven't seen anyone else mention this system, but could it be implemented in the game? Would be an interesting trick, especially during the nights.
