Problem is after I except it I mysteriously find myself transferred to Mare Is. California. I tried starting a new patrol then ending it and transferring but transer is not available. Also might be of intresting note that after being given my current gato i was transferred to pearl from fremantle.

How did you start off your career initially as it looks like you've gone to training in your new boat first before being assigned a combatant role?

I started in december of '41 with a salmon class. Even after being assigned to Mare Is. I was still given a patrol assignment on the Luzon-Truk Shipping lanes. Even after I tried starting and ending a patrol at Mare Is. in hopes of transferring out, I was still next assigned to a patrol pacific in Imperial waters, not a training assignment. If someone has a work around or can even tell me what file to edit or if there is a way to manually edit my home port it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Most of your mods try to make SH4 more realistic. If you read up on sub operations during WWII, you'll find that, quite often, a skipper was expected to supervise construction of his own boat. Thus the trip to Mare Island. Shake-down cruises were also standard operating procedure.

More importantly, a captain did what he was told by HHQ. He went where he was assigned. If he complained and tried to change his orders, he usually found himself on the chair-side of a desk. It was (and still is) the nature of the military.

I understand that a skipper may be required to oversee the sea trials of his own boat, and I have no objection to completeing my orders. Even after I've spent a couple months at Mare Island I can't get transferred.

This might help. It's from the TMO FAQ:

15.) I didnt get transfered from new construction to Pearl Harbor, or transfer is unavailable, why?

Transfer is not automatic. For various reasons, i ended up being unable to get the transfer to work automatically, so you have to do it yourself by "picking up the phone" and calling ahead. If the option is unavailable then you've completed sea trials before i thought was possible. So you'll have to edit the subs availablity date for the pearl harbor flotilla in the flotilla.upc file.
NOTE: If your next assigment isn't to Honshu, then you have a repeat of the 3rd sea trial. Sad to say, do it again. There is no point in forcing a transfer if your next assigment isn't to japanese waters.

There's at least one more item in the FAQ dealing with missions that won't start.

Thanks for the help, I found the issue to be a couple patrols i had immediately started and then ended, allowed me to get the Balao about 3 months before I could transfer to pearl...but I did spend about an hour looking for the flotilla.cfg...guess I should have read the FAQ that no one reads....
