[REQ] Help with Sub Management Screen

I have created Japanese names to use for the sailors. However, I have encountered two problems. The first is that there is a middle initial in the crewman's name. The second is that, every now and then, a second given name is added.

Is it possible to drop the middle initial and eliminate the use of a second given name?

If so, what files need to be modded.

As far as I know, the assignment of names is hard-coded into the game engine (other than the name table). You could manually edit the names after the crew is assigned, but that kind of defeats the purpose of creating the name table.

Unless someone else is working on something similar, I'm considering writing an application to handle the name problem and some crew assignment problems and new functions. I can't give you any idea when it would be complete as I haven't totally digested the files that need to be modified, but I'm getting there.

While my afore mentioned problems are buggers, I have converted the German ranks to Japanese ones and am in the process of converting the German rank badges to Japanese rank badges.

I've posted a new thread with japanese insignas and medals, although I don't know the reason the medals were awarded for, but we'll be able to use them in a future campaign :)

It's like with the American and German names: the game randomly assigns a middle name from the CrewMembersNames.upc file and randomly assigns a middle initial, which is hard-coded. Stinks, but right now nothing we can do about it.
