Welp, I tried increasing AA and AF to 4x and I still have the golf ball (flat) sun.
Are there any potential fixes?
AMD 64 3500+
msi geforce 6800gt 256 mb
2 gb sdram
audigy gamer
windows xp

I'll try to post a screenshot in a bit, but I've heard it referred to as a flat sun. It doesn't have the glow around it so it looks like a golf ball in the sky as it's really small.
I think that ˇs the old problem with ATI cards? No sun halo ... :hmm:

Well, it didn't post but the link works. Yes, the halo is missing. It's like a little golf ball in the sky.
It is definitely from OLC UBER. Doesn't happen with stock or gwx2.x
i have a geforce 6800gt using 4xAA and 4xAF
I haven't tried Kriller's sun, I guess it's worth a try, but doesn't sound like Kriller's is a fix for OLC Uber.

You need to get a Photobucket account, it's easier to use than Imageshack. All you have to do at Photobucket is click on the IMG Code and paste it directly to your post.

Any other fixes? I should probably see if I can even get the old sun back by disabling OLCEuber.
Could it be i'm using normal particle effects w/ reflections?

No, that doesn't affect it.

It's not so much "offense" as "frustration" because yes, it's a common problem, and I don't know a 100% reliable fix. :damn:
It's been discussed in quite a few threads. A search for flat sun* should find a lot of results. Maybe you'll find a fix in the various posts.
Bummer.
Actually, I did try a search for flat sun and sun was too short of a word so the search was useless.
Thanks for replying. Can you think of any other fixes that might work? Otherwise, it's back to being seen for miles by enemy super radar vision.
I was reading through the sticky post for ubermod and I noticed some people "enable" a sun halo fix.
How do I enable it? Or is this with an older version?

The "sun halo fix" mod... is a long story... but basically it used to be an extra "modlet" in OLCE2, and now it isn't included. I no longer have a copy of it; it's one of the files I neglected to backup when I recently formatted my HDD and re-installed windows.
But, doing that fix yourself is easy... if a bit tedious. Want instructions? I don't promise it'll work... but it might.
P.S. search for olc* flat sun*
Anytime you want to search for a three letter word, just add * on the end.
P.P.S nevermind, I did that search and it found a ton of posts with the word sunk :roll:

I decided it'd be quicker to just do it.
Try this (enable it over the top of OLCE2, ignoring the conflict warnings) and let me know if it's better or not.
Try it with 4xAA/4xAF and please post a screeny.

No go. Screenshot on link (I hope). This is with aa and af maxed out. I'll retry at 4x but it hasn't seem to respond.

In one final effort.....and only because all else has failed.
Copy and paste the sunhalo TGA from krillerssun and paste it into:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX2.1\data\Misc
Overwriting the TGA already in that folder (back it up first).
Then I'm out of ideas.

Isn't that what i tecnically did when i enables kriller;s mod via jonesoft? Or is there something different when i copy direct?
Also, there is no directory C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX2.1\data\Misc

Put it in there....this should be the same as using JSGME, but on the odd occasion and without fully understanding why, I have found it to work.
It's gotta be worth a go if nothing else has worked.
If it's a failure then at least you tried.

Back then, I used a Set of Omega Drivers for my ATI x1300!
But since the Omega drivers didn't have an update in quite some time, due to their maker having RL problems, I installed the lates ATI ones...and bugger if I know why...but now it works!:hmm:
OLCe˛ looks dashing with the sun all bright and halo-ish!
It's def. a driver issue!

Yeah, I was thinking that too last night. I haven't updated drivers in a while. I'd hate to do it since I don't want any newer drivers to crash any of my flight sims. But maybe it's worth a try.
Yes it's starting to look like a driver/Video card issue!:doh: Did you have this problem with Stock 1.4b?:-?

I was looking at your avatar and crazy thought came up :hmm:
Could the lightning kill somebody on U-boats bridge or inside of it by hiting near to it ??? (not to mention at it) Rubber boots of course can save but not always :shifty: What do others think about this ? :hmm:
I don't think it's ever been recorded as happening, the sea & the whole of the sub would be negatively charged, I think you would have to get a direct hit on the head, the chances are probably 1 in a million or higher!:yep:

I have old Omega drivers & yes I get a lot more fps than with ATI, that is why I have stuck to them.:yep:
