This is probably a really dumb question but I'm just curious - does changing the attributes in the ship CFG files actually impact how they are rendered? Specifically I'm wondering if I change the draft for a vessel in the CFG will the ship display differently like ride lower in the water?

Also, what is the purpose of the "Display Name" field since it seems like all of the names displayed come from the Name file in the Roster folder.

Thanks in advance for any replies. :D

Yes, if you change the draft in the cfg file it will show in game.

The display name shows in Mission Editor I think?
Or is that Museum?

The answer is yes and no. A change to the Mast="Whatever" will impact the Stadimeter reading for manually finding range. The game engine takes this number and calculates the distance after the height of the Stadimeter's ship waterline is given to the equation. The engine also converts it from metric to Imperial measurements (if needed). This was one of the major problems the game first had with incorrect conversions of metric to imperial measurements. Not to mention the heights were not accurate for the distance to target. The figure needs to be calibrated to the true distance the target ship is away from the sub in order to make an accurate height figure work correctly. That's what the mod SCAF does.

The draft and displacement figures don't mean squat except for changing the figures in the Recognition Manual. I've had them set to Draft=100 and Displacement=50,000 for the Trawler with no effect to the boat.

The name field in the "Ship_Name".cfg must be the same referred to in the Names.cfg file or the game won't find it.
