Hello! I'm pleased to see you're visiting Captain Fishlord's Playable Ship Shipyard. We plan to invest in the high seas during this time of war. From the Conte Verde to the Sampan, we will have any civilian ship you could ask for.

What about military ships? you may ask. Well, I must reply that as of now we have ceased our construction of Northampton Class cruisers for the USN, but plan to reexpand into the war profiteer business again as soon as possible.

First up in line to be commissioned will be the SS Conte Verde. You will fly the flag of the Imperial Merchant Marine as you heroically do the drudge work of hauling depressed troops to and from island ports.

Soon after will be the SS Conte Rosso, of the same class, and you will carry freight (as well as the most distinguished persons in the West) all around the civilized world, from Buenos Aires, to Sydney, to New York, to San Francisco and the Golden Gate.

We also project building a series of small vessels to carry citizens in Steerage quarters, aboard dirty, smelly, cramped freighters and oilers. Such a ship would include but not be limited to: The British Medium Oil Tanker, the Medium Old Oiler, and the Modern Split Composite Freighter.

In any of the above instances, and many more, you will also be given the option, as captain, whether or not to be given assignments to war zones. Should you desire we will also arm your vessel, free of charge, according to your specifications.

(^^^^^Basic, overly dramatic phrasing of the fact that I will be making the Conte Verde and the T3 Fleet Tanker playable. Send in suggestions for additional ships, if they aren't too hard, I'll make them. Be aware warships will take longer and likely be not quite as functional as a submarine, but ALL passenger and freight vessels will have customized missions to fit their actual experience.)

(If you think I'm crazy, just say it)

Nice idea. Perhaps for the oil tankers you could have a mission condition where the captain must stay in a location for X hours, where you have programmed a task force to patrol using the mission editor. That would be a good simulation of oiler duties.

It's interesting you mention passengers on oilers - I was surprised to read recently that the Japanese really did have to use oilers as passenger ships b/c of shipping shortages. Sometimes this had unfortunate consequences. :dead:

And hopefully someone will get around to doing interiors for all of these new ships - it would make things even more immersive.

The Holland, for example, was a beautiful pre-war ship with a valiant history. The first link has pictures and the second contains her service record. The escape from the Philipines would make quite a mission to recreate. It would also be fun to sail her around the harbor mods that are being created ... such as, Pearl, Midway, Darwin, etc. Assuming you or others are intersted. I don't have the talent or ability.

Here's the links with pictures and history:

I would like to see a playable large sanpan that plays under sail. :) Sort of missions could be spying, dropping n picking up covert ops, radio relays etc etc. On either side, wouldn't matter.
