Two mods for the SHIII community!File #1) Tramp Steamer Fix: This file is designed to reduce the sinking ship behavior of the tramp steamer in moderate to heavy seas. Details for installing via JSGME and how I accomplished this are in the readme. Although I have done some limited testing on this mod, I need additional feedback to make sure everything is working as it should.

File #2) Clear Navigation Map: This file simply cleans up the grimy look on the left-hand side of the map that makes determining your depth somewhat diffucult. Again, this file is easily installed via JSGME.I hope you enjoy one or both of these mods. You may pick up both mods here (http://hosted.filefront.com/SubTypeZero/)
Please feel free to comment in this thread and send me additional feedback. Good hunting!

Subtype Zero,

I admit I am not much of an artist, so don't expect anything too fancy! Still, I hope that many of you will find this to be useful in your game.
I noticed this in your readme file, nothing wrong with this mod mate, I for one appreciate another modders creation/s ;)

I am temporarily withdrawing my tramp steamer fix. Reason: it didn't work! :damn: :rotfl:That is, it doesn't work quite as well as I first thought. Turns out that adjusting the engine power didn't really have much to do with big waves sinking the ship. However, never fear, as I believe (fingers crossed) that I AM making progress at eliminating or at least reducing this unwanted behavior.

Currently, I am playing around with adjusting the value for Submerged draught and getting better, but not perfect, results. More specifically, instead of the first ship sinking without any action on my part after only 2-3 hours, with the new submerged draught value, the first ship took over 10 hours to sink, with three other T.S.'s still afloat and going strong. So, I think I am making progress. However, much more testing to do.

Lastly, a reminder that the TrampSteamerFix and the CleanNavMap are two separate mods. I may not have been clear about that in my first post.

Knock, knock! Hello? Anyone here?

If there is any interest, I think I have made substantial progress in solving the tramp steamer sinking bug. :know: From the readme:I think I have solved most of the problems with the tramp steamer with this update. The key appears to be adusting the ratio between two variables: mass and surface_displacement, along with a small increase to a variable named fr_ratio (not sure exactly what this variable does; my best guess is that it effects the "bounciness" of the ship on the waves). Even though the model is substantially improved, it is not perfect. These ships will eventually founder, no matter what changes you make to the files.
Although I did not observe any glaring bugs, please be on the look out for any changes on how the ship responds to torpedo hits--particularly duds and any significant changes to ship sinking time.

**shameless bump**

Has anyone tried this out? I am curious if this has worked for anyone. I know this is a very small mod, but it is my first real attempt at hex editing, and I was wondering how well it had worked. Comments?
