I was testing depth cheking and DD's sensors on this action in single mission "Sink the Coregeous" made lots of pings but there seems to be no reaction from destroyers at pings from my u-boat.
Correct me if I wrong but as far as I remember in GWX manual there was something mentioned that this ping by cheking depth with sonar or tracking the target while submerged could be heared from miles around. Has anyone else noticed the ignorance of DD according to sonar cheks of u-boat ? :hmm:
And please, somebody change my avatar now, omg :D

Hope your hangover isn't too long and painful. :rotfl:
Good question about the active sonar. I've generally avoided using the Nibelung when stalking convoys because a) I don't really need it, and b) I was wary of betraying my position. Guess I'll have to test it.

It is a stock SH3 bug. The enemy cannot hear your pings... and it is a function of the AI that is hard-coded.
Another similar quirk of the AI in SH3 is that your hydrophones (and the enemy's) can hear through land masses such as islands.
Nothing we can/could do about either.

They also don't seem to respond to prematures either. Have a preemie in the old SH1 and the enemy DDs would be all over you in a heartbeat.

I haven't tried to run it on my new machine (being a DOS program getting it to work is tricky even in the best of circumstances). Ask in the old sub sim forum.

I can play it on XPsp2.
There is a d\l so you can play it and other old games that are on floppy.
