Hi again, i just get another idea, is it Impossible to make Ohka (Cherry Blossom) model in the Game, it will launch of betty & it will sunk your submarine if its hit you but if the Ohka miss or you shoot it in the air you dont cause any damage.
Watch this Anime Episode, it's tell about a Kamikaze Pilot who was to fly with the Ohka.

i would have to agree with lukeff
it was a real plane and you could add it to the game just like other ships and planes. for rocket engine look, a perminent fire from rear of fuselage would make it look like a rocket too. but im not sure if it would be worth all that hard work since you couldnt get it to crash into anything on purpose (the game wont allow it), it would only straif or bomb targets so what would be the point.
but i could see some who would like a secret weapons of japan mod if someone wanted to work that hard on a pure fantasy mod.
they had quite a few at the end of the war that would be scary if they worked.

well i see two things about that which could be hard to overcome, it was a surface ship weapon because a sub was too small a target to reasonably hit and frankly not worth it. the second would be that it was a long range weapon by bomb standards so how in the world could you get the AI to aim and fire the supposed to be self guided weapon on target in the game. i dont know that much about it but i think you would have to create a whole new AI control system just for it.
on a side note, at that point in the war with limited resources and all, it would have been restricted to go after capital targets such as carriers and battleships or troop ships.
with what the game offers the most i think you could reasonably expect to get would be a fast moving low level fly over near your sub in a designed mission.

it might work if you treat it as a bomb only then you could maybe do something that way as a free falling weapon.
im just guessing here but i think you could create it as a new bomb then make the plane to carry it. i doubt it would visually seperate from the plane but im not really sure.
maybe you could switch planes at release so one plane with it then one plane without it being make as seperate images. hell of a lot of work i imagine.
might have better luck trying other weapons they had like the mini jet, the japanese version of the german jet, and the gyro copter that drops depth charges so if you just want the secret weapons element then you might be able to do some of them and you might like something else.

Certainly, rocket-like weapons are possible to model.
Here is an example of Bf109s attacking a sub with WGR21 rockets which are in principle air-to-air weapon but could be used for attacks on shipping.

However, slow-speed weapons will be highly inaccurate in SH4 when fired/launched from relatively large distance.

the more i think about it the more i think it would be easy to do (except the modeling part that is) as long as you limited it to short range release like a bomb would and not change direction. i think then the game set up would be able to treat it just like a falling bomb.
i also saw a show on history channel last night saying towards the last days of the war they sent ohkas after any surface target they came accross so it wasnt just restricted to capital ships like i thought they were.

Maybe we could make the Ohka like the V1 in the video; slow it down a little, yet fast enough to scare the crap out of you. OR one of us could try to take the code for homing torpedoes and add it somehow to the Ohka. That way, it may then be able to home in toward your sub (in theory).:hmm::-?
