Hi all, has anyone noticed that since Subsim went down traffic here seems to have died right down, I must assume that:
1) Some found that there is life outside Subsim.
2) Found a new game or interest.
3) Just got bored!
4) Started to actually play the game & enjoying it!
Well I have to admit that I fall into number 2 catagory, I purchased another game & got involved in the associated forum.:yep:
The point to this thread is that I have been watching & amazed that the lack of modding here has slumped to an all time low, therefore I must say it:
GET BACK TO MODDING!:D

4) Started to actually play the game & enjoying it!
Anyway, I've noticed this myself:
The point to this thread is that I have been watching & amazed that the lack of modding here has slumped to an all time low
but we've seen this before, especially in the months before the latest GWX installment was released. Who knows? Maybe things will pick up again later. I can only hope so.:yep:

Actually its not such a bad thing to have a breather for a bit, gives us all a chance to play the game with all these tasty new mods in different setups and stuff like that,at one point the mods were coming so thick and fast I had a job to keep up:rotfl:I was having to go back a few pages and start my downloading session from there in case I'd missed anything:yep::doh:Its all good,I'm just glad subsim is back, when it crashed cause of the fire I nearly had a heartattack:o:doh::88)

Reece,

Just out of curiosity, what is the new game that you brought?

Ship Sim 2008 ( http://www.shipsim.com/home.php ), not everyones cup of tea, but quite good though a little boring, it does have multiplay, that's a plus however it need a little more work, for example when walking the decks there are no sounds at all,no people, like walking on a ghost ship, yet external view has the wind & sea sounds, will have to see what happens in the future, if only I knew how to attach a sound with that game engine!:yep:

Sure it's a bit slow now, but no doubt that things will pik up again!

After all it's holyday season and most Kaleuns are enjoying the sunny side of the land!

There probably will be very few if any updates.....as was stated by Kpt Lehmann shortly after the release of GWX2.1

My answer probaly best fits 1) Some found that there is life outside Subsim. and
2) Found a new game or interest. As i havent read these forums much in the last 3-4 mounths have i missed much other than GWX2.1. not being sarcastic it is a genuine question. :D

No. So-called 'Real Life' is a pretty bad experience. Of course there are some good mods for it. You might want to try Books, Movies or Restaurants to start with. There are various versions of all three, and some are better than others. Job is a necessary patch, but it detracts rather than adds to the game. Some other good mods are Travel and Conversation, but be warned - both are best used sparingly. More advanced players might want to try Girlfriend, but, while a definite plus to the immersion factor, Girlfriend is a very difficult mod to master. Contrary to some opinions, Real Life does play just fine without it.

Once you've gotten bored with the mods, it might be time to move on to the biggest supermod, WAK (Wife and Kids). This is only for the most experienced players, but it definitely gives the most rewarding game experience.

Me, I'll stick with SH3.

Your right Reece. And I thought I was the only one going crazy here. There seems to be a shift in activity here. Well with GWX leaving SH3 it has created a void. So whos the next boys on the block to take on the mantel... Hey. :smug:

Forget the mods. I am pretty close to uninstalling my copy, going to The Maker, and demanding a refund.

I've been trying to keep this news at bay since so far I'm not on the list to go, but my squadron just received a notice to deploy to Iraq and they're leaving on extremely short notice. Like I said, I'm not on the list to go but I just don't want to be told at the last minute to pack my gear up and leave my pregnant wife at home to deliver alone... that's what's troubling me these days, unfortunately.. :(

I do however have faith that whatever happens is God's will for me and both of us truly believe he's watching out for us these days!

Haha :D great post.

Seems most people my age are using the WAK mod, and what's more they don't really seem interested in talking to the few of us who don't use it. So I've been thinking I should probably try it, because...
1) Kids teach you a lot about yourself which makes you a better person (or something like that).
2) Kids will provide me with a good excuse to meet other people (i.e. other parents) in my age group!
3) Said people will, upon meeting me, respond positively when they learn I am a father, instead of just going "oh" and resorting to polite but dull chit-chat about the weather (rather than more interesting topics which seem to mostly consist of what the kids did yesterday and what they're doing tomorrow).
4) Women will find me ten times more attractive because (a) I'm clearly not shallow, being a father and all, and (b) I'm unavailable.

There are problems though. You mentioned that Real Life requires the Job patch, but actually that patch only needs to be active some of the time, unless you use WAK. By all accounts Real Life with WAK can crash causing irreversible damage if you try to run it (even temporarily) without the Job patch, and I'm not sure I can stand to play with the Job patch all year round. :hmm:

Some days I find myself wishing I could upgrade from Wife 1.0 to 2.0 but I've heard the cost is huge and there's still no guarantees Wife 2.0 won't have its own share of bugs and glitches.

What gets me upset is that any attempt to uninstall Wife crashes the system and requires a complete reformat and reinstall of Life.

Hindsight being 20/20, perhaps I should have stuck with the shareware version, Girlfriend 1.0. Sure, it's got an expiration and those annoying nag screens for getting a Fiancee add-on but you can always install a new copy after removing all traces of Girlfriend from your registry.

I think that any releases from this company should be regarded as spyware because of how it corrupts vital system files and uses up far too many system resources which Fun needs to execute without lagging or crashing.

*sigh*
