Why hasn't Phil Thomsen put a pointer on here at least as to where his mod can be found? I did find it once but was unable to find the d/l link: I actually asked him
"please tell me where it is"

His reply to me was, and I quote' "It's a secret, why don't you see if you can find it? Clue 'Hard Moon' unquote'

This I felt was a insulting and very childish answer. Definately not in the way everyone else behaves. I have never ever been in a more helpful and 'together' set of forums
As I'm waiting for an op' to have cataracts removed(end of June) my vision isn't always the best! so I haven't even tried again. And won't
I think he believes his 'mod' is the absolute best ever, and won't put it with all the others. But this is my opinion no one else's

He did an SH4 sound mod? I thought he had only done one for SH3. I know it's very easy to find on the SH3 mods board.

you may already know this but try post #2 here where halfway down the list, gizzmoe lists the sound mods from version 1.3

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108964

im guessing they all should still work as i dont believe any updated versions effected the way sound files work.

also please give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he may have been having a bad day or was trying to motivate you to learn to do it yourself.

i think sometimes people think letting you stay in frustration is the best way to motivate others to become new modders.

I'm not aware that Herr Thomsen has made a sound mod for SH4, although, as Sailor Steve rightly says, he's on version 3 of his huge sound mod for SH3.

Webster is right. The actual sound files structure in both games is very simple and are virtually independent of all other aspects of the game. In fact, the Sound structure in both games is practically identical. Since a sound "cue" / event in game does no more than point to a specific named sound file on your HD, it's possible to change, amend the actual sound files at any time.

I've even fiddled around with some of them in a saved game at sea, then resumed with no ill-effects. The one thing not to do is re-name any of the sound files. But the actual .ogg / .mp3 / .wav files are there to be changed / amended / augmented / tweaked etc.

I use his SH3 mod on both the SH3 and SH4 games. I've mixed his mod with Spax's sound mod for SH4. It works ok. As Sailor Steve says, you can find Thompsen's mod on the SH3 forum.
