i need help with ship waterline color

i noticed some ships have waterlines that are not red but actually pale grey, in some cases it is virtualy the same color above as it is below the waterline.

to see this, take a look at the akizuki, mutsuki, or minekaze DD to see what im talking about.


first of all, is it supposed to be that way or is it a texture glitch?

how would i go about making these ships share the same red color for their water lines?

what files are they and where can they be found?

i play stock UBM v1.5 with no mods

The textures for the ships are in the .dds files for the relevant ship. The ships are quite low res compared to the player submarines, as textures for the hull and bottom are repeated and mirrored all the way down the length. Find the .dat for the ship and the .dds should be in there with it, along with the occlusion map.
