This mod adds moving AI sen toku subs to the game they now can go anywhere. These subs now take one or two torpedos to sink, and you get your renown.
Install with JSGME or manually.

finally someone solved the indestructable sub bug! (will you share with us how you fixed it?)
the NS_Ko_Hyoteki mini sub is also indestructable, can you fix that one too?

AI subs have a CMDR AI submarine, and that keeps them from being destructable, you must replace that with a CMDR AI ship, then add wakes, sound files and finish editing ths SIM file.
Ill do the midget sub later today, someone needs to mod them so they stop rolling over.

sh.... I was planning on making one playable with a type II inside... grrr, or maybe I'll find out how to do it ?:D

At least now if they encounter one, it's gonna be a real ijn sub ! if ever you wanna do the same to my Jyunsen B, feel free, at least that one sinks :rotfl:

well that would be SH4 ver 1.5 stand alone version just called "IJN Jyunsen B" but there it still uses sort of the typ 18_1 tower, I need to change that though.. But it would be fun to have it as AI ;)

ps2 : could you take a look at the periscopes ?everytime I try and move them so that they don't stick out of the wells, they stick out of the bottom... I didn't have that before...

a request:
while your at it, can you adjust the mini subs surface draft so they sit higher in the water? as it stands now they seem to float half submerged and should sit higher IMO.

Keltos, I have made your AI sub but it has a whole submarine file of it's own. If you want it now you would have to update it every time you updated your B class sub, if you wait until you have finished the mod it will save time and effort. Your choice though, PM me if you want the files.

sen toku subs would be good for coastal traffic or port traffic, and those single contacts you find in the middle of nowhere.

well if nothing else it would be a live harbor target now so thats a big improvement.
it might not be worth the effort to make the mini sub AI because im not sure if you could actually find one outside port even if you have the location marked on a map lol.
i tried raising the draft height on the mini too but i didnt seem to have control of it.
what about using the periscope wake for it? the size should be about right.

But obviously you can set the value accordingly to your wishes...what about 1.500? Like a big battleship?

I don't think the midget can come up much because if you look at the stern the props are almost as big as the hull (in diameter) but I set it to 1.75 for surface draft and then lowered the GC to keep it a bit more stable. I went to .25 on the GC and then ran into it with my Sen Tuko and it didn't even tip over, so it's stable:lol:.

My Sen Toku II has been playable for a long time, I am just working on the Campaign. Most of the time is doing research but hard to find Jap info on the net. Don't think you want to start a career with a Jap sub in Pearl Harbor:rotfl:. I don't have the Jap guns, they were useless!!! The triple 25mm took forever to rotate and you were bombed before they even started shooting. And I put two 5/25 on it instead of 3 flaks. There are things that will be worked on later, if anyone even uses the Jap Campaign, the crew is not Japanese, the guns are not, the torps are not. I used the 'in game' Sen Toku so it doesn't have any tube doors, at least not ones you can see. But, I don't want to hijack the thread.
This pic above is for the AI sub that Miner did, he said he had trouble with the engine sound, so I put it in.

Look up :up: #23 and #24. Problem is it was my first mod and I didn't know how to do guns, so it has the US guns (and the Japanese guns are horrible) and it's built on a Gato. Didn't know everyone was going the uboat route. I have the start of a US/Japanese campaign, so I do play it. But with everyone going to the Uboat base for the subs, I discussed with Keltos and decided to change the Campaign over to the German side.
Also as I said above it was built using the in game boat so it does not have tube doors and it still has all the cranes and lifeboat hanging off it, but it is playable. I have one problem I need to fix though, if I am deep evading a DD for example, and then select periscope depth, it comes up too fast and goes right by. So I have to come up the 90 feet or so and then go to periscope depth. It gives me the time to open tubes anyway. But like I said it was my first and I played with the numbers in the .sim file until I was crosseyed and if I got the surfacing part right then it wouldn't dive. The only reason I never released it was the lack of a campaign to use it. I was going to release them together, but when everyone went to uboats mine would be the only one to use in the campaign and technically it never saw action in WWII. If I remember right Japan surrendered before it got to it's first mission destination.
Also Keltos is working one, a smaller conning tower version of this the AM.
You can see by the post date, I haven't been modding very long, so I have a LOT to learn.

is it ready as a download in a sinkable version yet? it doesnt have to move just as long as it can be sunk.

wait, the AM and Sen Toku are the same? I thought the STo was the carrier and the AM the smaller boat with a reece plane (I think Japan had tons of classes like that)

No they are not the same, you are right there. The Sen Toku held four planes or three planes and parts for a fourth, something like that. But I wouldn't call it a "carrier", it had a launcher on the front. The planes would have to be taken out of the hanger, launched and then recovered by crane.
The AM is also a "hanger" type sub that can launch a plane. I am not up on all the classes like Keltos is, so maybe I said it wrong. They are not the same 'class' but they are the same type with a hanger for planes (that's all I meant by that). But the AM only held one plane I believe. So I just worded it wrong. But Keltos is working on one that is the smaller version, similar to the Sen Toku. I only stated it that way so that anyone not familiar with the Japanese subs (like me:rotfl:) would know what I am talking about because they can see the Sen Toku in the game. And it's similar in appearance but a smaller version, I didn't mean they were the same. And from my limited knowledge, I also think you are right that they used different planes.
If you do a search there are some pictures of the sub he is making.

The Type AM was a modified sub with a Jyunsen hull and a modified Sentoku tower which could only store two planes instead of three. They were designed because of a shortage in raw materials to build more Sen Toku.
It is a bit smaller then than the Sen Toku as well, as my model shows.

have you ever had time to go over the issues with the midget sub?
i am really more interested in a sinkable version with renown that has the correct looking draft height. (for my game fixes mod)
it is more important to me to have that than worrying about getting the AI version working.

It's been a while since I have modded for SH4 now, but I remember with the midget sub it kept rolling when on the surface and flying around when I hit it with a torpedo. I could never find the solution for it.

could you do a couple AI US subs for our japanese campaign please ?
and can your AI Sen Toku be used there as well ? Even if not playable it would make a very nice addition to our campaign, you'd be included in the credits off course :)
