I hope we will have the sense to leave them alone.
It's strange to see another world like that.
Such things really make me think of what it is to be human and makes my modern
sorroundings seam very artificial.

Plenty of medically valuable plants, for example. It is estimated that every hour 1-10 botanic species that could show us a combination of substances medical research could benefit from get wiped out by us with us even not knowing that they have been there.
Also: the deep seas below a depth of lets say 3000m. as authors love to put it: we know less about that than we know about the moon.
Of course, that is just because the moon is so dull.

Well one of the photos show that they are shooting arrows at the camera man. It shows they have had dealings with the media before.:yep:

Why? Maybe they saw a helicopter for the first time, and defended their village, thinking it was a giant firefly trying to eat their wives and children, or take their hunting prey. Anywhere else in the jungle, they maybe would have run away. or stayed hidden.
But maybe we could learn something from their way of handling the media. ;)

How curious. These people remind me of lost civilizations from thousands of years ago. It's like Cortez's meeting with the Aztecs. I love how they brandish their spears at the helicopter, perhaps thinking it to either be some sort of bird, or possibly even a god. What secrets might these people hold? How did they come about. It's strange to see such uninformed creatures of another age. They're like lost relics from the past: amazing and strange to us as we are to them.

Don't be so daft guys. ;) Those pictured are just some of the extras left behind from the filming of the new Indiana Jones film. :smug:
Isnt there a fairly large "Cargo Cult" tribe living in Pearland Texas? :know:
I hope we will have the sense to leave them alone.
If I where in an untouched tribe I think I would want to know about the modern world,
even if I didn't want to become a part of it.
I would certinaly not like to think the rest of the world was keeping me deliberatly ignorant.

National Geographic will be climbing up their uncovered butts before long. Next thing you know they will be drinking coke and smoking Marlboro looking for a MP3 player. So much for the life of bliss for these folks.

^ this.
Whilst there are many, many priceless advantages to primitive life, the disadvantages
are just as numerous.
No tribe wants to lose it's way of life, but no tribe wants to be deprived of advantages
like modern medicine and education.
Don't get carried away with romanticism.

Perhaps they already have something better!
Who know what technological heights they have reached whilst we have been in our
relative dark age.
I bet they are years ahead of us...perhaps the other half of their tribe lives on some
kinda Mars base not yet detected by our primitive space exploration vessels.

I wonder what they thought about seeing their first hellicopter ! That had to be a really scarry and godlike experience for them ! :o

Dunno about it being their first sighting of an aircraft as i imagine they overfly the region a fair amount, but its likely the first one to come in and hover just outside of arrow range. :D
As a matter of fact now that i think about it, any previous sightings from further away would give them time to work up an explanation for them. I'd sure be interested in knowing what that is. Evil spirit that can be driven off, big juicy bird, who knows? Something that would make at least a couple of them be willing to attack one when it got close enough i'd venture to say.

Yes, I saw this on the net and it brought to mind the comedy film a local producer made called , "The Gods Must Be Crazy". There, an isolated Bushman tribe were introduced to 'our world' after the pilot of a small plane threw out his empty coke bottle - which was then later picked up by one of the tribsmen. If memory serves, I think it was quite a hit overseas - some of you might have seen it.

Don't we kind of have to leave them alone? I mean, wouldn't they stand a good chance of being wiped out by disease if we sent a few people out to say hi?
I wonder what they'd think about people discussing them on an internet forum. Incomprehensible!

Put it in a pill, charge hundreds of dollars each and you want be able to keep it in stock. There are cancer pills now that cost $13,000 dollars for a months supply and injections that cost $3,500 a pop.

Conversation overheard in the tribal encampment:
Warrior: Chief! Chief! Big bird coming. Make noise. Big noise. What is it?
Chief: (squinting) Relax that is just a Sikorsky S-92 flown by the CHC Helicopter Corporation. They are one of the biggest helicopter operators in Brazil. The S-92 is one of the newer faster helicopters. Last time they over flew us they were in the slower S-61N's that gave us plenty of time to hide.
Probably some anthropologist getting all excited about finding a new tribe. Hey its what what they live for. Go ahead and act scared now that they "found" us. With any luck the anthropologist will forget to get accurate coordinates from the GPS and won't be able to find us again until next time. Anthropology is for those with poor math scores.
Warrior: Oh great and wise chief, how you know all this?
Chief: Because I am the frickin chief that's why! Now go out there and act scared so he gets some good photographs. Here take one of the kid's toy bow and arrows so it looks good, but don't shoot yourself in the foot like last time OK?

Good thing the Russians aren't selling them an AA defence system. This would have been the last thing the pilot saw.
