No it's not available, sorry if the title misled you!:-?
I'm reduced to cutting and pasting from the savegame file and creating my own consolidated log in Notepad.
I know the original author of SH3 Commander has soured on an SH4 Commander due to the nitpicky comments from some ungrateful simmers but I thought there were a couple of modders looking at an SH4 variation. Is that still the case or is it, pardon the pun, dead in the water?
:hmm:

I'm sorry if you thought my comments were nitpicky (they were), but I would call myself anything but ungrateful. Since his pulling it from his site was a direct reaction to what I said at the time, I guess I'm not wrong in assuming that "some ungrateful simmers" is me. I never complained about SH3 Commander, or what it did or how it did it; only the problems I had were with updating it, and I think it's obvious I misunderstood how it worked and got a little too frustrated. I was and still am more than ready to apologize to him for that. I'm one of its biggest fans and have always done everything I could to get people to use it.
I only write this to remind you that JSCones announced more than a year ago that he had no intention of ever making an SH4 Commander. He didn't "sour on SH4 Commander" because of any comments made this week. I was, and still am, one of his biggest supporters, and was one of the people who tried their best to get him to change his mind on this, as I'm reluctant to play SH4 without the great benefits that Commander brings.
I just felt compelled to make that clear.
As for a version being done by others, I'm all for it, if anybody else can do it justice. There have been no updates in the threads they started long ago, so what the status is there is a total unknown.

I wasn't targetting anyone specific with my original post. I didn't intend to ruffle any feathers. I'm going on old info and was not privy to any details only what I'd read through the forum 'grapevine' etc.
Regardless, your original point still stands there is no SH4 and the "other" versions previously talked about have apparently "faded on the horizon" (geez, more nautical prose this game is affecting me more than I thought LOL). I'd give it a crack myself if I had any idea on where to start!:-? Is the SH3 "code" available or is it proprietary?

Erm, obviously when I say "SH3 'code'" I mean SH3 Commander 'code'!!

IIRC there was a modder (can't at the moment remember who) who toy'ed with the idea of a simular product after JScones made it clear there would be no SH4Commander being released by him.
I guess it went nowhere.

Well, if Skwasjer was the one working on it, then I'd say it's in good hands. We have only to wait.
@ tomoose: sorry if I got my back up a little. I still feel more than a little guilty about the whole thing.

I guess it's just a matter of patience, then. Skwasjer will no doubt post something when he's ready.
@ Sailor Steve: no worries mate!
