could someone good with image editing software make a few japanese uniforms so that we could replace the german ones in my Jyunsen B mod ?

¨[edit] we are doing it. the biggest problem isn't the models as much as the fact that all models have an animation too, and I'm not too good at that...

Just guessing haven't tried it but would it be the Crewmembers3D.upc in the UPCDataGe section? For the clothing?
The watch crew is WCS and the one I put sitting down in the JB tower is a HF_GE which is in the Interior and the Library/Animgraphsge and also found it in the Animations on demand folder but no 3D model info. But the head and clothing for them may come from Crewmembers3D. Someone else may know.

Apparently the uniforms are coming form the info in the Crewmembers3D.upc. They list the "Torso" as:

CrewMemberBodyPart5= Normal, Torso, bustg_02, 1, NULL
CrewMemberBodyPart6= Normal, Torso, bustg_04, 1, NULL

Notice the G after the bustg, there is no g on the US Crewmembers3D.upc.

I created a MOD and put Red lines on all the bustg_## and saved. I found the short sleeve shirts also incluce the arms in the texture. So here is the results of the 'test' with the torso.

You will also notice in the crewmembers3D.upc:

The only ones that don't seem to have a g after the filename is the Head:

So it appears the sub crewmembers get the clothing from here. The ships also have those stupid looking men that just fill the ship with sailors and are not on the subs.

Also another note: There are uniforms for differnt types of weather, so not all the ones you do will immediately show in the game.

The Japanese submarine crew mostly wore shorts and short sleeve shirts as their boats lacked air conditionning..

does the hat animate somehow ? what am I missing ? the model is the same size as the stock hat and fits on the head in 3ds, looks good in s3d (see earlier pictures)

I went back to an earlier marine.dat as the one I used eventually caused CTDs..

I have just replaced the textures in this file : the captain's got the right one, the crew too, will re-import the models next.

I removed the crewmember3d as suggested by Peabody, for now anyways.

changing the captain's type hat for the ijn one kindo worked, needs own ao map though,

but when importing the same model over the model of the sapcag_cm01through sapcag_cm16, it causes CTD ?????

I modified the original model of the sm, which already was a hat with a visor, into the original IJN cap model worn by all submarine sailors.

I then made 3 textures :

one beige with 2 black stripes
- IJN enlisted man

one beige with 2 black stripes and an anchor
- IJN non comissionned officer

- IJN officer

the models in .obj I made are in the Library\character\

sapcag_cm01.obj is my IJN hat, the others (bust) are WIP of IJN shirt.



What I want to :

-replace the german hats with the IJN cap
-have the caps with the correct texture on officers etc...
-have the crew either wear the IJN cap or the colonial hat when surfaced
-change the shirt for all to that I made with the submariner's badge texture

Character models are in Data\Library\Characters\MARINE.dat

Data\UPCData\UPCCrewData\CrewMembers3D.upc determines which torso/face/legs/hat etc. a certain crewmember uses.
you'll find entries like:

1, Randomweight. If multiple bodyparts of the same type are specified, the one with the highest randomweight will be most likely chosen.
NULL Texture to be used, e.g. "bust_md03.tga". I assume the textures specified in MARINE.dat are used if this has a NULL value.

I have found 3 different types of IJN caps for sale on ebay.com and used those to make the texture for the IJN Officer's cap in game.

All textures are made directly from the reworked photographs of RL items : IJN caps, buttons, insignias etc..

The eyes are done, so is the skin color, and Peabody agreed with me that unless we were to change the whole 3D head model (16 of them...) we wouldn't get any closer to getting the crew to look japanese.

I don't have those japanese 3d models, so from this point on we'll focus on the uniforms themselves.

it seems the more I try, the worse it gets :damn:

the textures don't show ingame like I think they should, then when I mess around too much I get those "crystal invaders" in my subs..

All the heads used are listed in the Crewmembers3D.upc,(unless you changed them already :03:) and the textures are in the Marine.dat, so you could run into any of them throughout the career, not just the ones you can see at any given time.
Also keep in mind you used two different subs to build the IJN subs, so you may get different men on each.
