View Full Version : Recommendations on Surface Action SIM?
Can anybody recommend a good surface action type naval SIM - maybe circa WWI or II? Maybe something along the lines of the old "Great Naval Battles" type SIM?

Task Force 1942, try that one
Battlestations: Midway
You can command fleets, uboots, planes in this one, a bit arcade style
but it's a nice game.

Yea Battlestations Midway is a good one, simular to the Battlefield series but with ships instead of ground troops.

Battlestations Midway has some problems, But overall it's very fun
Can't wait for the sequel...
The Jutland sim (detailed in messages below) looks very promising - I'm certainly a fan of battleship / cruiser /surface action type encounters (WWI seems interesting in this regard) so this one might be worth waiting for.
The downside? No radar / planes / minimal sub presence allows it to be a real "pure" surface action/gunnery sim more in tune with Nelson than Halsey.
Maybe thats a good thing.

SES' Jutland game is not a sim, rather a strategy game, But i'm looking for it very much...

It certainly plays like a strategy game, but the battle engine is very much a sim type engine. Excellent physics and 1:1 representation. No dice rolls there.

Yeah, That's part of why i'm looking forward to it, That Cordite will detonate because it would've done the same in real life, not because of some silly dice throw
