View Full Version : [REQ] Wrong main gauges in type XVIII control room

Hi,
a few days ago, when I started a mission in the type XVIII submarine, I noticed that many "big" gauges in the 3d-control-room somehow where wrongly calibrated... (Not only the "smaller" ones like in other boats):
The two depth-indicators show 50m / 400m, but act like the 25m / 260 m ones in the type IX: When you are at 25 m, the needle in the 50m-gauge is far to the right on 50 m, and when you are at 260 m, the needle on the 400m-gauge is on the maximum...
(maybe this is also the case in the hydrophon-station, but I didn't check it there...
So, it seems, that these gauges have only different skins than the ones on the type IX, but the needles are programmed the same, so they show wrong values... (I hope it becomes clear, as it is quite a complicated matter to describe... But if you start a mission in the type XVIII, you will surely see for yourself...)
Other than that, many needles on the 3D-TDC in the Command Room seem to be wrong, as they are not "vertical", but "horizontal" and clip through the gauges... (again, it's easier to see than to describe...)
Ever since I noticed this, I was bothered by it, and maybe some talented modder on subsim could fix this small flaw to improve the game? :-)
(I noticed it in Stock as well as in modded SH4 1.5, so I suppose this bug is not only on my system?)
Best wishes to you all :-)

I noticed the same problem too. I didn't check the sim files for the type XVIII, but following my experience this problem may be resolved by fixing the dials values with s3d..

Yes, I too think this could be quite an easy fix, but unfortunately I have no experience modding these files
So maybe a talented modder could do it, as this bug is quite annoying, once you notice it... It would be very much appreciated

Hi,
thanks a lot for the fix  I'm really looking forward to trying it out...
This fix should become part of every major mod, IMHO, as it really fixes some obvious oversights by the developers...
Thanks again! :up::up::up:

Hi,
now I have tested the mod, and the two gauges work perfektly
Thanks a lot for the quick fix :-)
But I discovered that there are also some other problems with gauges in the control room:
The TDC to the left (the one next to the map table) has completely broken gauges, as the needles rotate in a "horizontal" plane, and not on top of the gauges...
Also, in the hydrophone room, somehow the clock has one missing "pointer" (I don't know the English word for it, sorry), so that it only shows hours... (It was 15:09 in game, and only the pointer for hours was visible...)
Maybe you could try to fix these bugs too, if you have the time?
Well, I really, really appreciated you making these fixes to the depth gauges, and again thanks :yep::yep:

I only fixed those gauges because I need a break on Sunday afternoon from working on OM v300 / RSRDC upgrades. I don't have time to fix the "entire" Type 21 interior

Hi,
no problem at all, I already thought that these gauges maybe are harder to fix; and they're not really that noticable if you don't closely pay attention, in contrast to the depth gauges you always see...
So, thanks a lot for taking your time to fix the depth gauges  And good luck with your other mods :-)
