I want to decrease the periscope rotation speed, what file do I need to modify?

Hi, maybe you don't know, if you press the Ctrl key while pressing <- -> keys, you can lower the periscope rotation speed (or increase it by pressing Shift key). It works with deck gun, flak and UZO, too.

Otherwise, i don't know about the file you're searching for.. sorry!

bye!

I would like to know too! I looked thru the Cameras.dat an each of the subs file I could open an couldn't find any referance to ratation speed.

I would like to know were this is also for the deck gun....

THANKS....

To change the speed of the guns rotation you will need a program like Mini Tweeker or something like it. You can get 'Mini Tweeker' on my filefront page.

You would then use the GUNS_SUB_sim.txt file for the any of your boats guns. The 1st gun listed in the file is '88mm_UDeck_Gun_High_Body (105)' an it is actually the 105 mm gun. The last gun listed is the '88mm_UDeck_Gun_High_Body' and it is the 88 mm gun. In between them are all of the Flak guns. The value that you want to play with is 'speedTraverse'. The slower the number the slower the rotational speed.

If you are into using the deck guns in auto, you might also want to drop the 'range' parameter down to a more reasonable 5000 so that the crew does not expend ammo trying to hit a ship that is clearly out of range for such a small gun on a rolling deck.

I've never seen a 'speedTravese' setting for the either of the periscopes in any .SIM file.

By the way, when I want to play with the deck gun in manual, I drop the speed of my mouse down to 400 while targeting instead of modifying the .SIM file. But then I have a mouse with three buttons to change the 'pixels per inch' setting so that I can do just that. Using the 'ctrl' key has always been slow enough for me with the periscopes when I am zoomed in.

Thanks bobchase, Using Silent 3ditor an looking ing the GUNS_SUB.sim I see a Traverse > speed ( default value of 10 ) section but I think changing this would effect ALL rotation speed which I don't want, so I think I'm stuck using my mouse to get the best position :(

S3D may have some drawbacks. When I first looked at the .SIM file with it, S3D only listed the traverse speed for the 1st gun (the 105 mm). Then, when I closed the S3D program and re-opened it, the traverse speed showed up under each of the guns. :hmm:

The item you want to change is under '23:wpn_Cannon>obj_Turret>Traverse>speed' in S3D. That's the 88 mm Deck gun's rotational speed. Changing this will not change the 105 mm deck gun or any of the flak guns rotational speed.

It's listed in all my entries. Like I said, if I change it, it would also change the normal speed. I was looking for a way to slow down the speed when just using the ctrl + <> key an keeping the normal <> speed were it's at.
