Thank god for that, I wish i knew why they were so damn uptight about it in the first place - crazy if you ask me.

B-24 and a couple of others are added by RSRDC, RFB adds some planes, TMO adds some, GWX adds tons of them for SH3, etc... They've been available for a long time

The B-24 was actually in Stock SH3, but as with all the SH3 stock flight models, it looked pants. :p I wonder if this is why we got a Lancaster as a US bomber/search plane in Sh4? I still havent quite forgivien them for it :D
I love WW2 U.S planes, there were so many others they could have used instead - B-18, B-25 B-17 for starters.

I hope that if a 1.6 patch comes out, it'll be in there...but I guess I'll have to stick with RSRDC ;)

There's a gang of others I'd like to see. The F4U Corsair for starters.

I know it's a subsim and maybe I play IL2 1946 to much. :p

Yeah the corsair is a sweet plane, looks even meaner with rockets. :D

Nice pic JU88

It's my plane of choice in IL2 1946. I find it more challengeing doing TO and landing off a Carrier.

And yes the rockets are a nice addition. :yep:

If more people get enthusiastic about modding it in the game, I guess from now on I can expect a crapload of B-24s every time I surface.

Corsair, maybe the F4-UC Model with the 4 cannons, but not the one with the 6 .50 cals, i rather go for the seafire although it's prop is huge and sometimes it tends to hit the deck when taking off, getting inoperable engine right from the bat.

But still, B-24 is bit evilish though.. what was it called again.. I forgot but whatever :p

Don't know what the B24 was called but I heard the F4U was nicknamed the "Ensign Eliminator".;)

I'm getting off topic again....:-?

US aircraft were numbered, but recieved "official" nicknames. Consolidated (later Consolidated-Vultee and then just Convair) army and air force planes were all named for "do-ers":
B-24 Liberator
B-32 Dominator
B-36 Peacemaker (was orginally to be called Conquerer)

Their Navy patrol flying boats were named the same way, except for the two most famous and one never built, which were named for islands.
PY Commodore
P4Y Corregidor
PBY Catalina
PB2Y Coronado
PB4Y Privateer

Yep, the list of planes seen that would be nice if added,

F4U 1a and 1D

B-17's early in the war, then phased out in favor of the B-24

B-29's

F6F Hellcat

SB2C Helldiver

P-51 Mustang

P-40 Warhawk

P-39 Airacobra

TBD Devastator, even though it was phased out after they were decimated at Midway.

SBD Dauntless

Kingfisher recon and airsea rescue aircraft

B-25's as they were used in the gunship variat with up to 12 .50 caliber machineguns for anti-shipping as well as ground attack

Spitfires and Hurricanes out of Austrailia and New Guinea in Pacific markings

Grumman Duck recon, and air-sea rescue

And for Japan,

The Tony

Jill Torpedo Bomber that replaced the Kate as the latter had no forward firing guns

Helen Bomber

George, with 4x20mm canon

Zeke

Rufe floatplane version of the Zero, that was used against subs

Oscar

Ki-44 Tojo

Nick

Peggy

Jack

Dinah

All of these planes were used in the Pacific, and since there are lots of olaces where one goes that would make it a real good chance to spot one of these types when on patrol. Also since there was a lot of air traffic in the Pacific due to the vast ares of water that had to be covered.

This story is another evidence that moder copyright laws in inerest of corporations lead to blindend. B-24 Liberator is a part of history and copire for this name, US Air Forces disignation at that is a noncence.
