View Full Version : [REQ] NAV Station Compass Fix

Hi All,

Ever since Ducimus corrected the interior gauges for TMO I spend more time in the control room (as opposed to staring at the NAV map and HUD) to check the vitals while underway. With the fuel, battery, and air level gauges working properly there is less need to rely on the HUD for this information.

I have tried a HUD-Free patrol or two, but the Jacked-Up NAV Station compass is a real distraction. When my boat is heading NE the compass shows NW. It's not good when the Skipper can't trust his compass! :damn:

Also, the right telegraph and the compass are reversed on the instrument panel; the telegraph should have the adjustment knob below the gauge, not the compass.

Does anyone else care about this?
If anyone can resolve this issue it's the SubSim crew! :rock:

Thanks, SB

It can be fixed, along with all the other screwed-up gauges in each interior. It's one of my long-term projects for RFB.

Is this part of what you're talking about Luke?: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=137078 I was hopeing it was nothing screwy with my install!

It probably is. There are a number of mis-calibrated gauges in the Type IX interior.

Scottb841;
I too enjoy going 'HUDless', LOL, especially using SH4 Speech which I find really adds to the immersion (i.e. I say "come left 20 degrees" and I get the response "new course xxx degrees!", very cool). However, you're right there's still enough discrepancies that you're forced to use the HUD, it would be nice to trust all the gauges.;)

@Luke,

I'm glad to know this is something that's mod-able by you Gurus as the Dev's seem to have zero inclination to fix this after 5 patches.

I was really surprised by the lack of discussion concerning the NAV station compass, as the others all operate correctly (in TMO 1.5).

I'll be sure to check out RFB in the future.
