View Full Version : HMS Queen Elizabeth
Good Morning, Subsim!
Is possible to have a QE class BB (Like Barham, Valiant, or Warspite) ?
Someone is interested in mod one? :88)

The search function is your friend.....
There is already one in the works.
Iambecomelife is working on this project; isn't he? ^_^

I think so, though I believe it has taken a backseat priority to the Merchant Fleet Mod.

A QE class is probably the last major ship that is a real 'must have'....up to now people have had to make compromises.
But one day....hopefully http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1817/thinkbigsw1yo4.gif

The real question is - once it's out, who's going to volunteer to go through the campaign files updating all the T/Fs? :o
I think the reason a QE has been so long coming is that SH3 has an international modding community, and non-UK modders naturally prioritise their national fleet even though the de facto enemy is the RN. Hence we get the Georgios Averof and loads of Italian ships. It is nice to have the Greek flagship in there as a symbol of their resistance but, um, has anyone ever seen her while on patrol? Ever? There were five QE ships, one of which was sunk by a U-boat for God's sake!
To be honest I think we'll see the Millenium Falcon before we see a model of the Warspite et al.
I've found Averof a lot of time :o
She's doked in est's north-africa harbours (tobruk, or alessandria, i don't remember now);
Millennium Falcon? This can be a great mod idea, but with imperial cruiser also!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
BTW, if there is a WIP (promised is the right word, i think) QE BB Class, isn't a little "useless" to work another one?

The logical work-around would be that one person handles the Valiant/QE group, and the other handles either a Warspite or Barham/Malaya model. You have three subtypes in one class of ship, though two would suffice for simplicity's sake given the similarity between Warspite and QE/Valiant.
See here for comparisons: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=860920&postcount=14
Oooh, it's all getting exciting!
QE class will be exelent addition and no doubt value must have for SH3. Actualy, we didn't see any new capital ships for SH3 for a while
Becides there is a list of targets... :) vessels for Royal Navy in SH3 yet to be done.
HMS Furious (still WIP by Sergbuto) with possible extention to HMS Glorious and her sistership
HMS Renawn (possible conversion and addition for HMS Repulse mod)
HMS Ajex (could be remodeled from Dido)
HMS Arethuse (could be reworked from Dido)
NMAS Perth (WIP by Iambecomealive)
HMS Belfast
It is nice to have the Greek flagship in there as a symbol of their resistance but
It can be easily reworked into KMS Schlezien. Her guns started WW2
Millennium Falcon? This can be a great mod idea, but with imperial cruiser also!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
It would be nice to have breaking to Die Neue Schwabia as final mission. At least there is The Flying Dutch in SH4

HMS Belfast
Belfast is more or less covered by the Southampton subclass of Town cruisers. The Leander and Arethusa class would be great additions too, however, the sheer scale and complexity of the Royal Navy in WWII was enormous. Even with those ships we'd still be missing the Hawkins, Danae, Minotaur, York, Emerald and WWI-era 'C' class cruisers, innumberable destroyer, frigate, sloop and corvette classes - Castle class corvettes and the Kingfisher sloops to name but two - the monitors (very impressive ships), about a dozen carrier classes, and countless support ships.

Really, a C or D class model would be a nice addition. Variety could be implemented by different weapones.

Anyone remember the monitors, Roberts and Abercrombie ? http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

The biggest problem I see with the 'C' class cruisers is that they were actually several different classes, all lumped together under one heading. There was a bit of variety there.

Marshall Ney?
After a couple of hours on GWX multiskin Revenge (thanks to GWX team)...

Command deck and Walrus are WIP;
not 100% correct; just a small project while waiting for IAMBECOMELIFE's (better) work...
:lurk:
Don't you think that new command structure should be moved forwards a little bit after her siluette on the photo?
:) Thrue ^^
But this is only the work's start :yep:
And this is a "non 100% correct" version, while waiting IAMBECOMELIFE

The tower bridge looks fine to me. And the sternwalk - very nice! The photo of Warspite in the Grand Harbour has a little bit of an optical illusion going on...the plans are more accurate.
Just wondering - have you stretched the ship at all? They were a bit longer and beamier than the Revenge class, which was one of the reasons that they had more refit potential.
The torpedo bulges of the QEs were much less prominent than the ones on the Revenge class.
The stern rangefinder should be more or less the same one on the Revenge model. There was a much more modern one mounted atop the "Queen Anne's Mansions" bridge structure.
Warspite also had x4 dual 4in guns mounted on the gunwales, two per side - exactly the same turrets that you get on the Hunt class. Don't know how easy it is to drop them in but they're pretty essential - they performed very well on D-Day. Check out the plans to see placement.

Looks fantastic so far - you deserve a medal for getting to this stage after so many other dropped out
As for monitors, it'd be great to see them. They were specifically designed for inshore operations and as designed were enormously resistant to torpedoes - huge, er, bulges on them. The Roberts class are one of my favourite warship types - x2 15in guns, x8 4in, x16 pom-poms and about 20 Oerlikons on an 8000-ton ship? Yeeha.

Marshall Ney?
Yep the Ney as well, but she was predominantly a WWI vessel unlike the Roberts and Abercrombie.
In fact, I do believe the Roberts utilised the guns from the Ney.

I am afraid that we'll have to wait for a long as he is still busy with his commercial fleet supermod.
