I have been trying to learn Silent 3ditor and am having some luck (and some problems:damn:)

I cloned a sub to use and tryed making the in game Sen Toku playable but had trouble with the settings to get it to dive. Didn't want to dive, when I got it to dive it didn't want to surface..good grief.

So, I decided to play a bit with the PT Boat. Figured it would be easier than a BB. Discovered the Torp tubes are not part of the boat they are separate objects, so I exported one to an obj file. I added a Type 4 node, 3d Model and a label, linked them all with the IDs then imported the 3d object and enabled with Mod enabler. Played ok but didn't have the tube, thought it was hidden but discovered I never selected 1 to make it visible (right?) Then when I played it crashed before loading the mission. I reset to 0, runs ok. What am I not doing? Is there another file that needs to be edited?

Other problem. Still have the subs dive planes and rudders in front and back. Tried to delete the nodes and it crashes.

What am I missing? I'm thinking it is another file or files that need to be changed but I can't figure out what.

And I never did have a conning tower on the sub before adding the PT boats 3d obj, but it is the Gato which has 4 so the problem may be a date thing and I have the wrong tower. I'll work on that one. Think I'll clone a sub with one tower, I can use the practice.

Thanks for any help you can give me. I have some of this figured out but have a long way to go.

Start new at best with the NPT_Br folder.
you open the *.dat and then you need this things from a working Sub:

1.Front and rear diveplanes(Node,label,3d model)
2.Minimum one torpedo tube(Node,Label,3D model, all animation controllers+ properties)
3.the *.sim ,the *.upc and the *.cfg files+ a *.cfg file from Roster/American/Submarine

You do this by importing the whole Dat file and then you change the reqired nodes parent ID. After this delete all things you have imported.

After this you rename the 3 other file types into your ships name.
You should be able to work on the UPC and CFG file. Important is to make a link to a Roster file, you copied and renamed, a link for this is in the cfg and the Upc file, drop the one file reworked into the right roster directory, cause it is important.

then copy the ID of the ship into the controller's parent Id slot in the sim file.
you need to link: in the unit properties the diveplanes!
you also can link your rudder and properllers.
the other important things are the torpedo tubes.
