Hi everyone!
A great bug that i tought i'd correct in the past has been found on NPPQ_ ship (Queen Mary) and, after some tests, also in Empress Of Britain, Rex, and the Wip Queen Elizabeth.

The problem is this: after some miles following his route, the ships reduce them speed, become stationary and slowly start to sink :damn: :damn: :damn:
They remains half sinked, in navigation asset, eccept SS Rex, inclined.
Another thing is that those ships are too easy to sink! Just a torpedo and they sank.

I've make some test modifying the .sim files, but nothing change.
I've used parameters from BB_Bismarck, from NNOR_ (my Normandie, she work very well, this is tested!) and from NPPL_ (GWX liner); nothing is changed.

My last chance idea:

Before proceed with a complete rework ofthis 3 liners, usin NNOR_ as base, some one have an alternative idea?
Normandie hasn't a lot of nodes like NPPQ_; so this solution will cause some solutions like group the lifeboats (2 x obj) or the pipes, but with this ships will work off sure >_<

Thanks everyone!

This could be the 'Sinking Ship' bug.:hmm:

BBW, Ref or Privateer will be able to help.
However, I can't. I don't have the correct HEX powers.

Looks like your fleet of liners are suffering from the dreaded "sinking bug", VonDos. :know:

This was inherited from the stock SH3 ship you used as the template for your beautiful models. I know privateer has answered this same problem recently but I can't recall exactly who posted the original thread. :-?

I do recall he said that it was caused by values for draft and speed not matching up in the .val, .sim. and .cfg files for the ship and to use the GWX Bismarck as a guide for sorting things out as it was a very well made ship mod.

Do a forum search for "sinking bug" and you'll likely get a solution. ;)

Nothing;

i'm reworking Queen Mary using SS Normandie as base.
SS Normandie had recently beta tested with heavy tests, so it's OK.
I'll say something when finished; 3D model is the same of original bugged QM, i must unpack, adapt and repack, and after modify others ships files.

This must solve also the "fragility" problem (old QM went down with a single torpedo!)

Good!

After hours of work, i can finally say: OK!
NPPQ_ can be adapted on NNOR_ (and on NLUS_) base; i can save the 3d model from Queen Mary and use the caracther files of Normandie.

With this, QM will remain the same, but without "sitting duck" and "easy-to-sink" bugs! :yep:

:D :D :D :D

I've followed refitted QM for 125 miles, 9 knots; she never stop!
Hitted by a torpedo, she reach 7 knots, with only 2 propellers, but didn't sank.
Well!

Sorry for the late reply, I've missed the thread, the solution is simple (no need to reimport the objects).
In the sim file you must set put_on_water to 1, and the surfaced draught must be distance between the bottom of the model to where you want the waterline to be.

Better late than never... :smug:

Now, QM is finished now, i've made others improvements and she will be released like she's now; BTW i'll make your modify for Empress, Rex and WIP QE...

Thank you!

EDIT

I've find "PUT ON WATER" but she can be only thrue or false..
For now is setted to "True" in bugged ships like Empress...

Sorry, programmers stuff :D , true = 1 , false = 0, so it must be set to true.

But it is true and ships sink (excepted rebuilded QM)... :hmm: :hmm: :damn:

Try changing the draft value in the cfg file.
(Remember to exit and restart sh3 to test the changes)

Done
no change;
Rex, Empress and WIPQE appears now "more light", descarghe, with half props in the air; but sitting duck is here!
