Hey Jim I finally figured out why I was ctd all the time with GWX 2.1 & SHC3.1

The solution is interesting and may answer some other members problems I hope.

Hi Privateer :D

As you were also one who went above and beyond the call of duty trying to help me during that time you should like this too.

As all can see in my sig I have 4 -1gig ram sticks.

Two of the sticks I got from Ultra are as different as nite and day from the first two.

As explained to me it has something to do with Latency.

I will watch the details in the future when I build my next rig.

Happily I back playing GWX 2.1 with SHC3.1 and have played all the single missions and now in 1-42 career with no CTD's. YAAHOOO :D

So you changed the RAM then?
Or relocated them in the sockets?
Or changed a BIOS setting?
Makes perfect sense now that We see this part of the puzzle.

I was in the process of updateing one of my servers to run SH3
so I could do further tests.

OOPS Sorry :oops:

Ultra replaced the second pair so they matched the first pair.

Their records showed they made the mistake. So Ultra sent me a pair of replacements at no charge.

Congradz dude.:up: Its important to have good memory and with low latency.

Kingston is good value for the buck.

Cosairs are very good brand.

I prefer OCZ dual titaniums.. They work very nice on my rig for stability.

I've always liked Kingston.
Never ever had a problem with them.

This boils down to one thing I always ask for.
