Greetings!
Having been out of action for a while and just reloaded SH3 et al and the GWX 2.1 mod (thank you GWX Team) I have noticed that when you float the mouse to the right of the screen a large white compass pops out. I just wanted to know can this be disabled? Many times I have gone to click the fire torpedo button and up popped the compass due to me throwing the mouse over too far. No a major problem except when I have that damn destroyer bearing down on me! Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve B.

WELCOME ABOARD!:sunny:
I don't know the absolute answer to your question. I know it can be done, but I'm not sure of which files to change.
I just wanted to give you a special welcome, because I'm not only also a Steve, I'm also a Steve B. as well!
A small change to the menue.ini would do it...but I dunno what change!
Hi & welcome
Youre request can be done easily. I just took a quick look into the file and its about 3 little changes:
first, make backups of [SH3 install]\data\Menu\menu_1024_768.ini and one of [SH3 install]\data\Menu\cfg\Dials.cfg
second, edit the menu_1024_768.ini and find the string [G3F I300] in there.
You've got to delete the following eight blocks (the ones 'g3f i300' to 'g3f i307'). (That's no problem because no blocks are following behind them in this section).
Then third, go to the ...\data\Menu\cfg\Dials.cfg to it's very end and delete the the block there (which begins with [Dial 52]). You should also go to the beginning of the dials.cfg and decrease the DialsNo setting by one.
Let us know whether it worked out, but there shouldn't be any problems.

Just move the compass up a bit, and it won't be a problem. I think Reece has a fix for this.

I think that this compass is a great addition.
In fact, it is a pity that GWX 2.1 just incorporate this dial and do not incorporate a previous mod that allowed all three small useless dials to spawn big when passing the mouse over them. This allow a more precise adjustment of the orders. Also that mod had on the periscope view the feature to also spawn the TDC dials, avoiding the nuissance of having to go to the TDC map screen to do last minute adjustments...
I wish that mod was made available for GWX 2.1 again
Anyway, I understand that some people may just don't like it.

I'm not a fan of it - it's gotten in my way a few times. I've just been too lazy to find where it lives in menu.ini to get rid of it.
Unfortunately it's its untimely appearance that reminds me to move it, LOL!
I will just point out that if you have the IO mod installed, the settings start at [G3F I337]

If you are also using OLC's gui mod, you may wanna try this:

I imported Sale999's mod with the big sliding dials into the OLC Gui, and I'm using it for the same reasons you explained.
And its compatible with the newest OLC Gui on GWX 2.1.
