View Full Version : In GWX, is the VIIC faster at diving than the VIIB?

I remember reading a year or two ago that in stock SH3, the VIIB and the VIIC were the same except in name, with regard to speed, diving depth, and other particulars. Does the VIIC actually dive three seconds more quickly on average than VIIB, in practice? Is the VIIC 0.4 knots slower under-water compared to the VIIB? Can it dive more deeply?

I am not 100% sure but I think the C and B versions are still the same. (I might be making a mistake though as I'm more of a IX captain myself  )

The difference is negligible and totally offset by the weather conditions and the speed your travelling at etc whilst giving the order.

As for diving depth...that is almost entirely dependant on the randomisation factor in game.

Negligible, i.e., 3 seconds on average, speed = 1/3 ahead, in calm seas? 2 seconds on average in calm seas?

I'm aware of that . . . my purpose in this thread here is to compare relative values. I appreciate your thoughts though, I just want more detail if anybody has it to offer.

This is the information that I've got: VIIB: 27 seconds VIIC: 30 seconds. The VIIC was slightly slower submerged as well. On the plus side however, the VIIC was a bit more seaworthy than the VIIB: some of the air intakes for the diesels were repositioned so that they didn't suck in so much seawater in rough weather (I doubt that this is modelled in the game though).

I've got the same information, and the question I'm asking is: are these differences modeled in the game between the VIIB and VIIC? Jimbuna tried to answer, unfortunately it's so vague I don't know what to make of it. I tried to run some controlled tests but my computer is so slow at loading GWX that I gave up and instead sought an answer from somebody in-the-know. :hmm:
