I want to convert a los angeles class (that i've in sh4) for SH3.

Could you put up screenshots of the los angeles class sub in sh4, i can't read russian so have no idea if they have links to screenshots or where to download.

Is this a JSGME enabled mod? I also found a 627A and a La Redoutable, but I've noticed that there are some errors that pop up when trying to load the game... nothing critical and the game and sub still load, but is there an install procedure that needs to be followed (my Russian isn't so great, but I can understand some of it)?

Also, is there a way to stop the sub from firing up the diesel engines when it surfaces? And i saw mention about modding it to carry more modern torps, are there instructions on how to do this (or any of these mods) in english somewhere?

lol the readme is in Russian :o . So i presume this mod can be enabled with the mod enabler and i would have to start a new campaign? or is the mod for single missions only. Anyways thanks for this mod! :up:

Downloaded this enabled it with Generic Mod enabler, load up SH4 and all i get is errors about texture files missing in the 688i folder. I notice the download is less than 1mb. So theres no textures:hmm:

Is this the full download needed to run the mod? Or am i missing some

It's a full download. The error messages are the result of erroneous entires in the sub's .upc files. They're only annoying and won't affect your gameplay, but it's also easy to get ride of them:

Open data/submarine/NSS_688i/NSS_688i.upc with a text editor. Look for the following lines and change both to NULL

LightmapTextureName= NULL
NormalmapTextureName= NULL


Then open data/UPCData/UPCUnitsData/UnitPartsXX688i.upc, look for the following line and change it to NULL

HullNormalmapTextureNameOverride= NULL

Is this mod only for 1.4, not 1.5? I cannot see any 688i in sh4 career, i even tried your edit tutorial found in the Cold war mod thread but when i tried that i would get a crash when i click on 'American Career',

Im running the SH4 1.5 patch is this why? If so will there be a 1.5 version coming out, the modern subs look very nice!

I'm running 1.5 too, and it works well. I just rechecked the editing instructions, and it should work if you just follow them closely. One key point is that you have to replace one of your chosen flotilla's original units with the 688i. A typo might also easily result in a ctd(been there done that), so I suggest you check your edits once more, and report back if it still crashes :up:

There's your typo: ID should be F1688i, NOT FX688i, since you're using flotilla 1 here. The ctd was because you had correctly wroten F1688i in CareerStart.upc and the game tried to find a sub with that ID from flotillas.upc, but couldn't find one.

I just came back to SH4 after a long break so excuse me dragging up old things...

Fincuan, you seem to know all the fixes for this stuff and I am having CTD's and texture errors even though I thought I followed all your directions. Do you have it made up into a mod for yourself that is JSGME installable that could be zipped up and re-hosted? Would save people like me having that are having issues alot of trouble.

Of course if anyone else has the same thing.... :up::rock:

Yes I have, but unless you're using the newest TMO+RSRDC I'm afraid you won't do much with it. Mine is modified especially for these two mods and won't work with stock SH4 or RFB. Same advice to you as to kiwi2005: recheck your edits. The instructions are confirmed to be correct, but it's very easy to make a typo.

Well I am running TMO+RSRDC. Is it possible you are telling me how to edit it for stock SH4 of RFB and that is why it is not working??? Stands to reason since you are implying the edits needed for both are different. There are also typo's between your posts here, and your posts in the Cold War thread so if there are mistakes I may not know where they lie. (For example, the "FX688i" mistake kiwi2005 made was not really his mistake.. it is how you wrote it out in the Cold War thread.)

i'm having trouble doing this with vista, it will not let me overwrite the career start.upc file can anybody help me!

Do you have SH4 installed in Program Files? That is always an issue with Vista on a game you will want to mod. The read only properties of everything in Program Files will re-set themselves even if you turn it off.

Your 2 soutions are, re-install SH4 elsewhere if these problems happen alot, but for a quick fix on the one file I would copy it to a temporary location (not anywhere in Program Files), edit and save it there, copy and paste it back.

The edits are the same for no matter what mod combo, but the files themselves are different because RSRDC completely overwrites the stock(and TMO) campaign. The same instrcutions should apply regardless of the mods used. I have checked the instructions numerous times and several people have succesfully followed them(including me) and haven't reported anything wrong with them. You have to carefully read the whole instructions, since this is not a copy-paste thing but requires some manual editing(like the FX688i thing).

About the FX688i thing, this is what I originally wrote:

Replace one of the listings with what you see above, replacing the two X with the number of the flotilla and Y with the listing you chose.

As far as I know others have taken suns from SH4 to SH3 and SH3 to SH4, i have never dealt with this myself but I have seen the post's in passing as a matter of fact doing a search should turn up more tha na couple of strings on it
