Is there a way adjust the way that this award is given in SH III? I have GWX 2.1 & have finished at least 2 successful patrols in my current career & have yet to be awarded it. Historically the badge was awarded after 2 patrols (1 if wounded & at the commander's discretion). Or would changing how the badge is granted (if it's even possible) screw up the method of how the game dispenses the other awards?

Murr44, do you have SHIII Commander? If not it`s a great program, you can promote, and award your crew thru it. Puts

Yeah I have SH3 Cmdr 3.1 & GWX 2.1. What I was asking about was if there was a way to modify the way that SH III awards decorations to me or if that's "hard-coded" and unchangeable. I'd like the decorations to be more historically accurate in the way that they were awarded (ie. the DKiG {German Cross in Gold} shouldn't be awarded until at least Sept. 1941). Maybe my original post wasn't clear.

Well, I've completed almost 50 patrols in two different careers, but I still have no clue how SH3 awards you with badges. I've earned uboot badge ones .... when I returned to homeport at the start of the mission due to heavy damage caused by ASW planes.:hmm:

There is a way to adjust the medals and what not, I hadn't annouced it yet as an official [WIP] as I'm waiting for final confirmation on my last mod before posting it as a [REL] (its the expanded rank/renown system). Once I officially start on it I'll post it up as a [WIP] as I'll be asking everyone for data to use for testing in order to simulate careers properly; which is essential to making sure that the changes made function properly as its very time consuming to create the kind of data needed. Its easier to use real patrols instead, since all mine but my current got nuked awhile back I'll be needing other ppl's data to help move the project along so I can focuss on the work rather than wasting hours creating dummy test data. More details to come soon :D

always make sure you sail back to base and not "end mission" in the middle of the ocean, did the trick for me :D

So, the question is how many homeport returns You have to do to receive the badge. Recently I've made 3 one by one and ... no go.:shifty:
By the way, Tessa's idea to improve "SH3 rank awards" .... works fine.

The badge didn't exist before october 1939! I'am still in september and I was awarded with that, but in SH3 commander, the auto-fix didn't give any of my crew the badge because of this!

That's one of many little discrepencies I'm working on trying to correct. The basic sub war badge wasn't authorized until 13 October 1939. "The badge can be presented to all officers, NCO's, and crew members who server on submarines directed against the enemy, and who prove themselves on two or more sorties against the enemy. In case of a wound sustained during the sortie, the number of sorties required may be waived. The decision arriving at the determination for award of the badge rests with the submarine commander" - taken from the 'Introduction of of the submarine war badge 1939' from Raeder, Grand Admiral.

One frustrating aspect of this award as it stands is that you get awarded the war badge with diamonds, which wasn't instituted until later in the war, and in order to qualify you had to already hold a RK with Oak Leaves to get the one with diamonds. Jaesen's done a great job of fixing these details in SHC, fixing them ingame for your Kaleun is a far more difficult task for me to tackle :o

I know what you mean...ehehehe Only once, I manage to do a real career lengh and received the awards right. The common fault is receving the u-boat front badge always before late 44!
But I don't mind I did my post to give an idea about Murr44 problem!
