I'm having a bit of problems with my pc. My hard drive is intermittently corrupting files. So I've been pretty much dead in the water for the last couple of weeks.
I want to apologize for taking so long with finishing and releasing the mods I've been working on, and updating the ones I've already released. At the moment I'm limited to logging on here on my work pc, but I'll try and keep in touch.

Hey, absolutely no need to apologize - thanks for the info still though. Yah, computers... if one wants to call cheapo PC tech (usually) combined w/ M$ c**p we all have to suffer in our daily lives that :damn:
Hope you get the drive changed and your data restored m8. S!

Judging by that picture you'd better make sure the new drive is waterproof

Been missing you very much around here, AvH! :yep:
I'm very glad to know it was simply some hardware troubles and not a matter of you getting tired of SH3 and walking away! :D
I hope you get your computer all fixed up soon. I've been dying for you to finish work on the Depth Charge Noise mod and all those other "must-have" mods you had been cranking out so quickly.
So how do I address the "Get Well" card for your computer? :p
[ Picture a scene...computer tech with one of those old-fashioned round reflectors strapped to his forehead, like doctors used to wear, and a pair of surgical gloves. On the table, hooked up to beeping medical monitors, is Albrecht's ailing computer.
Dr. PCTech: "Hmmmm. Seems you've had a hard drive failure. No heavy downloading or accessing large files for at least a week. Take these two NewEgg.com hard drive coupons for 20% off and call me in the morning." ] :88)

::sighs::
Days after losing my HD my car also went belly-up. Have a new car now; well, new to me anyway; as it's a 1991 I can't say it's really all that new. Nedless to say I've been concentrating more on getting a replacement car than a replacement HD. I wish I could say I'll be back into things soon but, at the moment, I've no ETA on when I'll be up and running again.
Again, my apologies.

Always make sure that S.M.A.R.T. is enabled, and use a good tool to diagnostic possible near future problems with your hd's.
No apologies necessary.:) Real life always comes first. Sorry to hear about your recent run of bad luck...

An apology thread? NICE! :D
Well, I'm here to apologize to OLC for being rude, indifferent and sarcastic on the past few weeks. I had the best of intentions and was pure in all my thoughts, but it came all wrong.
I'm also here to apologize to Rubini for taking too long to finish my part of the optional packs for the new mod we are doing together. Life is taking all my time away mate, but I'll try to catch on.
I also want to apologize to Privateer for being such a dick sometimes. Sorry mate, I'll try to behave myself.
Whew... It's very nice to purify the soul sometimes... Very nice thread this one!
No problem Albrecht, i think all of us understand , hang on, after clouds, the sun always come up:sunny:

Im having the same problems with my 2nd PC that i use mainly to play SH3 window files are currupting left right and centre so to speak. But i know what the problem is, - the graphics card which is an oldie Radeon 9600xt when ever i use it i get currupted files in windows, apart from that it can run sh3 doesn't lock up etc., but i think the grfx card has a heating problem, cause if i go back to the onboard video everything is sweet - yet i can't play SH3 as its only a 32mb onboard vid. So i have to use this 9600XT.
Maybe try a different gfx card and see if the currupt files cease. If video card gets hot it will currupt windows overtime.

I recommend to everybody, for those who doesnt know, to use you hd S.M.A.R.T. thing, its made for one reason, to prevent data loss. Warning you before the hd start to malfunction, you need a diagnostic tool to read the s.m.a.r.t status.

And even more important than that, use NTFS and not FAT32 as a hd data format. Once I changed to NTFS, never had any more data corruption or data loss.

A Hard Drive is never really dead.
I learned how to work with a hex editor because of HD failures.
If your brave and daring?
You can take the disks from a failed HD and put them in a doner drive.
You'd be amazed how much time can be saved!
Not to mention lot's of work you by pass!
