Dammit! I was just passing by Helogoland island at night on surface to my patrol grid AN29 on 256 TC when suddenly my boat was destroyed by flooding. It just happened too fast I was unable to react at all! :damn: Did I struck a mine ???
SH3 commander says nothing usefull too
Summary
Oberleutnant z. S. and U-52 were lost sometime on 12MAY40.
Well that's a difficult one!
:hmm:
What year was it?
Either you were sunk by plane (and your watch didn't see it!), you collided, a mine, or got hit critically somhow; All we can do is guess.
High TC is a bitcht!
I once struck a mine near the British east coast and since i was running high TC my Boot sunk like a stone.
And it was over before i understood what was going on!
Well better luck next time Herr Kaleun!:hmm:

Most probably some nasty mine was laying beneath :( I reject the probability of the plane since the year was 1940 May, there were still none planes equiped with radars or leigh lamps.
I just don't understand why TC never dropped to 1 when collission with ?mine? happened :\

There are only two possabilities for me...
1. Struck a mine (Dont know if there are any...)
2. Run aground in shallow waters during a fast cruise

This one is droping out too. Distance from island was no less then 30 km away. Made lots of patrols through that area never had troubles
If you are playing GWX, there is a nice draggable document with the layout of mine fields near axis bases :p

That is correct and well known mister :know: The problem is there is NO friendly minefields showned in that area!

Very funny :D
No, seriously, how come ? U-boats don;t dissapear like that, they were sunk by enemy or by hiting mines. I just want to know what happened to my boat :shifty: BDU not always knew what has happend to u-boat on patrol. But always did captains I believe

By the way, this is my last patrol log: 11 (file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Pauliuss/My%20Documents/Personnel%20Files/SH3/Von_Paulius/Log_10.html)11MAY40 - 12MAY40 (2 days)0 (0/0)0 (0/0)U-boat damaged (H.I. 84.51%)
Hull was still strong, but I was sunk by flooding, so why a hell TC never droped to 1 if let's say I have hit the mine huh ? :nope:
I can feel it's really getting personal when the truth is somewhere out there :D

More than likely a mine
The British mined often around German waters esp where they thought the uboats were running to\from patrol
If you were SSE of Helgoland or there abouts is a distinct probability

Yep, now it's getting wormer, I do remember coming radio messages warning about minelaying activity of British navy (english channel; east and north cost) and Kriegsmarine minelaying operations laying mines around Thames or so..
But I think I received a message much later that some areas around Heligoland was already cleared by Kriegsmarine ?
And how about TC ? I looked over it is set to 1 when criticall hit. I am sure I would have been able to save my boat anyway :(

it was a mine... i had this happen to me frequently in one spot near lerwick in previous versions at high time compression.
to figure out what happened i enabled external view, reloaded my game... went to the place where i died and sure enough the area was infested with mines.
thats the cause of your problem... it WAS a mine.

I think so too, it was a mine, but I blame TC or SH3 commander not stoping it on time :nope: as the H.I. shows the hit was not criticall yet

Dont blame the most fantastic tool for SH3 ever for it. In the end its the fault of SH3 alone (and maybe a weak/slow system).
It happened to me too. But ages ago. Mines wont destroy your complete hull, but the damage they do to you is so extrme that you mostly die instantly.
I even survived a mine once. It was with GWX 1.0 or maybe 1.03. My bow compartments were totally ruined. All Torpedotubes were gone and the whole crew in the bow are too. I had heavy flooding, but stopped it just in time and made it back to uh... I guess it was Brest...
Mines suck! They can ruin the finest career in no-time!

You survived only because TC worked fine I bet, or u weren't at TC at all. 84 % of H.I. is a peace of cake to handle with damages, but not when TC goes on 256 faster real time and water flowes in on an eye blink!
And my system is average (AMD sempron 3400+, 1GB of RAM, Nvidia GF6600), this is definetely something with SH3 commander's TC settings malfunction on critical hits :shifty:

The British had a spy camera in that exact area, I think this may have been you :o

:o :stare:  Hang on, wtf has SH3Cmdr got to do with this? It's not even running when SH3 runs! You've even been told it's unrelated by a few people. READ!
You hit a mine, guaranteed. There's a British minefield in the region throughout 1940. Your TC didn't drop to 1 because you died before it had the chance to. HI does not need to be 0% before you die.
FFS, learn from your mistake and get over it. :nope:

I think S3cmd had to stop TC to 1 when I got the -1% of damage! and if HI is only 84% so even with one section fully destroyed I could still manage to go back to port! and that should not mean all the crew is lost. It's a shame it did not happened.

:damn: Sigh, yes, it's all caused by SH3Cmdr, and you didn't hit a mine, that was SH3Cmdr too; it randomly sunk you and then bumped up your HI to cover itself and confuse you. It's cunning plan nearly worked, but it's obvious that you're one smart cookie that can't be fooled and saw straight through it. Well done.
Personally, I recommend that you uninstall SH3Cmdr, as it's obvious that it is causing all of your problems, even though it is not running at the time. Then you can be free to sail through the exact same area over and over again.

I thought about writing exactly this after I red his former comment... but hey, you were faster :rotfl:
JSCones is right. Of course he defends his project until death but he is absolutely right. Death was faster than SH3īs crappy TC behaviour.
Just because you can ADJUST the different TC rates for different situations in SH3 Commander does not mean it "damages" the TC behaviour at all, ok?
As I already said -> Mines suck!

We shall not call them mines! Mines are a despicable, underhanded weapon used by the enemy to wage war in a most evil and unchivalrous fashion. We shall instead refer to ours as U-Bomben, to differentiate our courageous and noble young men, who shield our harbors and interdict foreign shores, from those cowardly Britishers, who slip in like thieves in the night to lay mines that sink our craft, heedless of whether it is a warship or humble fishing boat. *
