Hi all,

Here is the feature list:

german u-boats added to the roll pitch and caustics mod.
submarines reflection bug fixed so now you will see the texture of the submarine and conning tower reflecting in the water for at longer distance, I still need to work on the ships before the change allso affects all other ship, expect an update soon.
Edited the reflections and ocean colours so that they have a much more natural look, with the colours of the reflctions matching the sky better and time of day.
Edited the sky slightly to match the above.
The bug with the debris mod so that you never see any lifeboats is now corrected, thanks to Rubini.
Bug corrected where the foam looked yellow like beer when cloudy.

Installation:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.Copy all the folders to your MODS folder besides your main SH4 directory, use JSGME to install (google it if you don't allready have it) and say yes to overwrite files.

2.Install all the mods say yes to overwriteany previous files, but only install ONE of the debris mods, choose between bodies on the water when a ship is sinking or no bodies.

Is it just a patch and when yes which exact version do I need first?

Or is it a mod for itself?

Hi Captain,
It's a patch / new version for PE3, you need to install PE3 before installing this version, which can be found here:
Pacific Environments 3 (http://files.filefront.com/ROW+Pacific+environments+37z/;10091975;/fileinfo.html)

BTW remember to read the readme about the installation carefully so you install it right ;)

I have downloaded PE 3, but before I install it I was wondering...I already have TMO and ROW. Does PE 3 add to these mods, or do they include pretty much what is in PE3? Thanks.

ROW = PE

Kriller you mentioned in your read me,
"if you think the sub is sitting up too high then use the dive rate mod it will lower the sub but reduce roll pitch effects"

...now i have seen your stock setting with PE3 and I did change to the dive rate option... BUT, fact is i think you nailed it with where you 'placed' the sub int he water.

it looks high when viewing externally but when you look at this picture of the USS Pampanito youve nailed it. Look carefully at the distance between the bottom of the dive planes and the water line, as well as amount of freeboard showing on the side of the hull.

in fact i think i may have just talked myself into switching back to your PE3 without dive rate option....

your setting may look unnatural to some initially but by looking at these photos it seems spot on realistic....

I'm not sure abt this, but isn't the displayed Pampanito a museum vessel, ie. stripped from all war time gear, fuel, weaponry & what have you, which makes it much lighter, thus sitting so high uo in the water, whereas wartime subs had a heavy loadout, making them laying much deeper in the water?:hmm::hmm: Ie. like with diverate activated.

Agreed, not a boat fitted out for combat patrol. Hence she rides high on the water.

Here is USS Trigger;

Just browse around

http://www.navhttp://www.navsource.org/archives/08/04idx.htmsource.org/archives/08/04idx.htm (http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/04idx.htm)

and you'll get an idea how the subs sat.

Pampanito is definitely higher than the period photos.

The youtube clips of the Silent Service documentary are awesome for viewing subs at sea.

Check here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSjKT8JPQAc)... 2 minutes in, you have an excellent view of the way the subs ride in the water. Specifically 1:50 to 2:10.

(the link was posted elsewhere, I forget by who... but he should get full credit)

So if PE = ROW does this mean I should apply PE 3.1 over ROW?

ATR-42

ROW has been evolved into PE, so download PE then use it. If your running a separate ROW mod then its likely outdated.

Thanks for the video, but I think Wclears mod allready takes care of making the submarine sail like on the video unfotunately we can't have both the swinging mod and the roll pitch mod, but the blue water in the underwater scene looks like it would be a thing to pursue? (2:18) in the film.

My sub keeps going past test depth when i press dive - possibly due to the dive rate mod you guys gave out?

##UPDATE## doesnt seem to be the roll pitch or diverate mods as I removed them and tried again. funny i never got this i think before PE

Are you runing TM - or any other mod with PE3.1?

Yes RFB, RSRD and EM 4.4's scene.dat among others - but as far as I remember this only arose once I installed PE3 - ive tried removing the diverate, roll pitch etc. to no avail, unless i need to restart from port? also its not the scene.dat i think...

These are the Mods I have currently installed...

Ver 1.5 TM Overhaul
TMO Service Pack 1
TMO Service Pack 2
TMO Enable Uboat v3
ROW PE3 Install #1
ROW PE3 Submarine Bubbles and caustics and Rollpitch #3
Smaller Seabed Rocks

If you read the readme it says 3 times that the sub and roll pitch mod is not compatible with TM, im working on getting PE3 compatible with TM.

You should write the readme at least 15 times, each time with a different font, size and color! :rotfl:

Okay good news, the TM is running now without any problems with PE3 and the new reflections mod, so expect a patch 3_2 soon with cranes and buildings reflecting in the water and a fix for tipping submarines.

Question to patch 1:
with optional mod: with bodies. Sometimes I see people in the boats and sometimes not. Intentional?
I sunk a passenger liner and saw 4 dead bodies below the surface. Is it possible to have some more bodies for a large ship and fewer for a small ship? I saw them below the surface, that is with external camera. Can they be risen a little to be in the surface? Not below or above, but half? In Racerboys SH4 effects for SH3, he had the bodies trying to swim before the fell down into the deep. A little morbid, maybe, but realistic too. Possible?

regarding reflections for subs: well, using the patch 1, I still see the white reflection for the sub, except for the conning tower, which seem to be normal now. Am I the only one?

In the sub and roll pitch mod, you still need to rename jap_sub to NS_Ko_Hyoteki.

My enabled mods:

@Coratio I don't know if it's possible. Rubini did me a favour and converted his mod to SH4, because I asked him if it was possible, so you will have to ask him or Racerboy.

Regarding the sub reflections, that's odd, but Im working on a mod which uses the new method to show the reflections in the water as textures allways, but it takes alot of time I have to go through all ships and open the nodes in S3D.
