Hi All,

I have a question regarding the first GWX patrol in August 1939 for the 7th Fleet. I am to patrol an area for 24hrs (obviously) and since it is just before the war - "everything is green"... :)
However, in the bay south of Danzig there are three sets of stationary targets for practice. Well, what can I say - I ID'ed them as British and sent them down...
To my amazement I was attacked after closing to any other German Warship since the targets I destroyed were "green" as well...

as KaptLt. Lehmann says you should use escape to warp back to base, because by attacking a neutral ship you will become the enemy of ALL neutral nations (ie. the entire planet).

basically sinking the target ships doesnt HAVE to be done, but it is just for kicks mostly... basically just take your boat out on a "shake down" cruise which lasts 4 days.

on the fourth day, return to port. if you have attacked ANYTHING return to port by hitting escape from your present position because if you take any damage you will be in port getting repairs while the war starts.

personally, i just went on a cruise of the north sea, letting my crew practice crash dives and simulated - weapons cold - torpedo attacks against merchant ships for 4 days.

when you start the war off after the shake down patrol... everyone will still be neutral. the idea is that you are deployed to the western approaches in preparation for the outbreak of war.

Also, from my own experience, you will lose Renown if you sink the neutral ships in August.

The message to return to base (Kongisberg) will arive at 8:02am on August 4, 1939.
